Samsung are now taking order for two new Odyssey gaming monitors

Samsung Australia have revealed local pricing for their new monitors, along with confirmation that orders for them can now be placed.

There are two screens in this wave and one has two sizes. The Odyssey OLED G8 is the first one and comes in 27 and 32 inch models. Apart from the screen size, the specs are the same, both displayers offer 4K resolution, a 240Hz refresh rate, and VESA DisplayHDR TrueBlack 400.

The screens support AMD’s Freesync, to ensure that compatible hardware can ensure the best picture possible. For inputs, there is a 1.4 Display Port and 2 2.2 HDMI ports, giving you a choice of connection methods. There is a small USB hub built in, which is powered by a USB-B connection, but offers two USB-A 3.2 ports on the output side. Finally, there is a headphone port on the rear of the screen, but there are no speakers built into the device.

If you are looking at picking up one of the displays for yourself, you can do that here direct from Samsung, shipping will happen later this mont. The prices for each are:

  • 27" Odyssey OLED G8 G81SF 4K 240Hz Gaming Monitor - $1,799

  • 32" Odyssey OLED G8 G81SF 4K 240Hz Gaming Monitor - $1,999

For those seeking a display with more dimension, the Odyssey 3D is one that should grab your attention. It comes with a 27 inch display that sports a 4K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate, but the big deal is that it also offers glasses free 3D, just like a Nintendo 3DS.

The screen supports existing 3D content, but it also has an AI real-time 3D conversion option. This is designed for videos and while it might work in games, that was never what it was designed for. There are other restrictions, such as it needing software on your PC and only works with Nvidia’s RTX 3080 or higher, so sorry AMD gamers.

If 3D conversion is not a concern for you, the screen does support both AMD FreeSync and Nvidia G-Sync, to ensure your games look the best they can on the display. Feature wise, there is a 1.4 Display Port and 2 2.2 HDMI ports, giving you a choice of connection methods. There is a small USB hub built in, which is powered by a USB-B connection, but offers two USB-A 3.2 ports on the output side. Also, unlike the screens above, this one does include speakers, if you don’t have your own.

The screen can be ordered now direct from Samsung, with shipping happening later this month. The price of the screen is:

  • 27" Odyssey 3D G90XF 4K 165Hz Gaming Monitor - $2,999
