Honey, I Shrunk the Kids is getting a sequel with a returning star
While we normally don’t cover movie news here, this is just to good not to talk about, comedic actor Rick Moranis is making a return to acting, having signed a deal with Disney to star in Shrunk, the sequel/reboot movie to Honey, I Shrunk The Kids.
It was back in 1997 that Moranis stepped away from acting, when his wife was quite sick and he remained away from it after her passing, in order to raise their children. While he did do some voice work, most noticeably in Disney’s Brother Bear, alongside fellow comedian Dave Thomas, he has been largely away from roles that required him stepping in front of the camera.
The news is even better with the original films director Joe Johnston set to be back as well, one of his most recent movies was Captain America: The First Avenger, but starring as the now grown up son will be Josh Gad.
Wayne Szalinksi was a wonderful character, with the movie spawning two sequels in Honey, I Blew up the Kids and Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves, there was even a theme park attraction called Honey, I Shrunk the Audience, which also starred Eric Idle.
Deadline is the ones who broke the story, so be sure to head over there for more industry details.
