Disney+ is expanding next year with the addition of Star and a lot of new content
During the Walt Disney Company Investor Day, it was announced that Disney+, at least in Australia and New Zealand, would grow on February 23rd, with the addition of a sixth main panel, Star.
The Star brand will serve as home to thousands of hours of television and movies from Disney’s creative studios, including Disney Television Studios, FX, 20th Century Studios, 20th Television, and more, enhanced by the addition of local programming from the regions where available.
The basic gist is that if the show, movie, documentary or such is exclusive to Hulu in the USA, then it will be on Star here, there will be exceptions of course, shows that already have existing contacts will not join the line up.
With the addition of a the new panel, the price for Disney+ will also increase, and that will happen on the same day as the Star service comes online. Here are the prices, per month and yearly, for Australia and New Zealand:
Australia: $11.99/month or $119.99/annual
New Zealand: $12.99/month or $129.99/annual
Of course, there were plenty of shows announced for the Disney+ service, the Marvel and Lucasfilm ones we highlighted already. You can learn all about the new Star Wars shows here, the existing Marvel shows here and the newly detailed Marvel shows here.
