Avowed wows with new details via the Xbox Developer_Direct

Kicking off the second Xbox Developer_Direct was Obsidian Entertainment and Avowed, which explained the story, setting and more. Check out the presentation at the bottom, but now here are the highlights.

The combat was the first highlight, there is magic and melee, plus even guns. The game lets you swap at anytime between them, you can use a one handed wand to attack enemies quickly, combine that with a snare trap which locks enemies in place, giving you an advantage.

But some enemies might have the ability to heal others, so there will need to be some consideration into how you will attack. The game will also offer you the chance to dual-wield wands, so you can unleash a lot of powerful attacks. If you don’t want to use a small wooden stick, you can break out a sword and shield and really get into the mix.

While combat is key, there are also character interactions to enjoy, giving you the chance to create interactions with characters, that can impact how the world sees you and how you experience it.

While there is a lot more that we can learn about character interactions, the presentation pushed right on through to the games visual style and the regions that the world is made up from. Each region has something unique to each, but what they are is unknown as they only highlighted one area.

Right now the game is aiming to release in the Spring months, but no firmer date has been delivered yet. As expected the game will launch onto Xbox Series X|S and PC, with it being a day one addition to Game Pass.
