Ubisoft delays three titles, pushing them back into their next fiscal year
Ubisoft held their recent financial briefing the other day and in it, they confirmed that Rocksmith+, which was recently delayed into the new year, would no longer release early in the year, but instead joins The Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake and Tom Clancy’s The Division: Heartland, as now releasing sometime before March 31, 2023.
Prince of Persia was announced back in September 2020 and was meant to release in January of this year, but was delayed only weeks out until September of this year, but then that was removed and it was just 2021, so from a game that was almost out the door, to now delayed up to 18 months from now, something is going on.
Ubisoft’s chief financial officer Frédérick Duguet said this about the delays, during the call
“Prince of Persia is a beloved brand and we are taking the appropriate time to ensure that we are living up to players’ expectations, as we said during Q1, testing phases for our free to play games are ongoing and inform our release plans. Testing of Heartland has provided great feedback and the team is committed to make the title engaging for a wide audience.”
Something to consider though, the end date of the fiscal year being March 31, 2023 does not mean the games will release then, it just means they will release sometime during the 12 months leading up to it. So they could release on April 1st 2022, though that is unlikely.
So what do you think, are you happy with these games being delayed, or are you worried one of them will be the next Skull & Bones?
