System Shock picks up publisher support, as well as confirming a console release
Nightdive Studios announced System Shock, the remake of the original game, a while ago and while they have been working away, they only tend to release updates when there is big news, like this one today.
When the game releases next year, getting access to it will be made easier as they are partnering up with Prime Matter, to bring the game to PC players, as well as those on consoles.
“System Shock has been a true labour of love and our goal has always been to deliver a game that is as close to perfect as we can make it,” said Stephen Kick, Founder and CEO of Nightdive Studios.
“We’re excited to partner with Prime Matter to achieve that goal and see this as an important step in the growth of Nightdive Studios. It will allow us to offer System Shock to fans all over the world, both in digital and physical goods formats, as well as fully honour our commitments to our fans and, in particular, to our thousands of supporters on Kickstarter, without whom this game would have never been possible.”
The console release is new as the original plan was for PC first, but right now, there is no word on what those consoles are. What we do know is that the team have been working with some of the original developers, to ensure everything is as accurate as can be.
As an added bonus Terri Brosius, the voice behind SHODAN is back on board, to provide a true authentic experience, so that is a nice addition.
As for release dates, we don’t know anything outside of 2022, but fingers crossed it will be dated as soon as they can.
