Sonokuni goes portable with a confirmed Switch release

Kakehashi Games and develoeprs/musicians Don Yasa Crew have announced that soon after the PC release of their debut game Sonokuni, the game will drop onto Nintendo Switch as well.

The news came from the Tokyo Indie Games Summit, which took place over the weekend, where attendees were able to go hands on with the game. If the game is new to you, this is the official blurb describing it from the developers:

In SONOKUNI, players take on the role of Takeru, a lone assassin tasked with raiding a surreal superpower empowered by biotechnology. Join in her struggle to balance the morality of extreme violence against the defence of her own people, in a story inspired by real-life Japanese mythology (with every moment punctuated with a visceral soundtrack from Japanese developer and hip hop group, Don Yasa Crew).

The game is coming out on PC and now Switch, with a demo out now on PC. Right now the PC release only has a Q1 2025 release date, which is quickly nearing its end, so a date should come soon.
