PlayStation 5 consoles are getting some much needed updates
PlayStation have announced the next update coming to the PlayStation 5 console, which includes new enhancements to accessibility, the game library and more.
The update is rolling out now in beta form, which means some functions may not go live when the rest do, depending on feedback, but most of them should appear later this year. You can’t just download the update either, you need to be invited by PlayStation.
Here is what is included in the new update.
New Accessibility Features
Support for compatible Dolby Atmos-enabled audio devices
Social feature enhancements
Ease-of-use features
Support for larger-capacity M.2 SSDs
Some of the bigger inclusions are lumped under Ease of Use, for example. One of them will give you the option to search inside your library for a game, like the example below.
Another update inside of that category is the ability to turn off the beep, you know the one when you turn on the console, eject a disc (where applicable) and even turn off the machine, that one.
The larger capacity SSDs double from 4tb to 8tb, which given the size of games these days feels like it will only be enough for a little while longer.
The full breakdown of the update can be found on the PlayStation Blog, but again it is only going out in a beta state right now, so a full release to everyone is not likely for sometime.
