Welcome hub is coming to PlayStation 5

PlayStation have announced a new console update coming to all PlayStation 5 consoles, that will offer up a host of new fixes. So what is included in this new update?

There are a few additions that are releasing in beta form for those that opt into that program, they are:

  • Personalized 3D audio profiles for headphones and earbuds

  • Adjust Remote Play settings per user and choose who is allowed to connect to your PS5 console using Remote Play

  • Adaptive charging for your controllers (available for the slimmer PS5 model and PS5 Pro when it’s available)

The last one is only for the Slim model of console and very likely the Pro model, launch model consoles will not be able to use that feature. The new additions below are for all models.

The big new addition to this update is the Welcome Hub, which is a space on your PlayStation 5 that you can customise to your liking, if you don’t want to see select items, you can remove them or if you want to highlight something you can make it bigger. The video below explains how it works.

As you can see in the example image below, there is a lot that you can include, if you want or you can exclude just as much. There is no word on if you can turn it off though. The feature is rolling out in waves with the USA first, then Japan, then select European countries and then finally everywhere, however there is no timeframe on when we will get it.

The full details on the update can be found on the PlayStation Blog, which also includes a lot of details on the beta functions.
