Overwatch 2 has announced a new Hero and detailed the first season and more

During the Tokyo Game Show Xbox Showcase that ran last night, Blizzard showed up to announce the third new hero for Overwatch 2, welcome to the fight Kiriko.

Kiriko is described as a support based character and makes use of her wall-climbing and kunai wielding abilities in battles. Specific details about her abilities have released by the below infographic, but a deep dive on the games official website has not yet been announced.

As with all these character reveals, we did get a bunch of new screens to enjoy as well, which you can check out below.

In addition to the newest hero, we also got details for the games first Season, which is set to kick off on October 4th, when the game launches into early access. There are three new fighters coming in Season 1, Sojourn, Junker Queen and of course, Kiriko, with the first two unlockable for free. Kiriko is a little different, if you buy the Season 1 Battle Pass, you unlock her right away, if you do not, you then have to play the game to unlock her.

In addition, there will be a limited time event as part of the season, Junkenstein’s Revenge: The Wrath of the Bride, which will take place over the Halloween season, so October 26th to November 9th. In addition there will be new weekly challenges and a whole lot more, you can actually check out the video below to get a good overview.

Beyond all that though, progression for the game will be a little different for Overwatch 2, one big difference is that the game will no longer release a hero straight into competitive play. Instead they will be made available for private matches and such, giving the team time to ensure the balance is correct and then they will become available.

You can read more bout that, the tiers of the season and more on the games official website. The game is launching into early access on October 5th for PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch.
