Nintendo Switch 2 digital game prices announced, upgrade packs as well

Ever since the reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2, there has been one question on everyone’s mind here in Australia, what will the games cost digitally. The addendum to that, that people were also curious about were the upgrade packs, what would they cost, well now we know both.
The only full game that has been priced on the Nintendo eShop is Mario Kart World and it has been given the local price of $119.95, which is the same price as its retail release. You can find the best price for the game here. Donkey Kong Bananza is listed on the Nintendo eShop, but it does not have a price, but given that the game is coming out in July, a price for that is not a rush.
There were a lot of people online hoping that the prices for the digital releases were going to be cheaper, which they are in Japan and Europe, but in North America the prices are the same digitally as they are in stores. With how most games will launch at retail slightly cheaper than the RRP, except at EB Games, retail might still be the way to go here, at least for a while longer.
The upgrade packs were the other thing people were curious about. As you can see in the image above, prices are $20 or $30, depending on the content. For comparison in Japan the upgrade pack for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is 1,000 yen and Kirby and the Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World is 2,000 yen.
So, based on the Japan pricing and our local pricing, it seems that what you could consider a basic upgrade, the Zelda games are cheaper and games with expansions, are going to cost a little more. As a reminder for those with Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, as the upgrade packs for both Zelda titles are included in that.
