Changes are coming to some beloved Nintendo Switch promotions

In a late night news drop, Nintendo have announced that two beloved Switch promotions are coming to an end, the My Nintendo Gold Points and Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers, well the second one will live on, just with a big caveat on it.
First, the My Nintendo Gold Points program will end on March 25th at 3:30pm AEDT. Once that time has past, no purchases on new releases will earn Gold Points, either in store or on the eShop. The big restriction for that is if the game was released in stores before that date, like Hello Kitty Island Adventure, you can still earn Gold Points when you redeem those, but any game released after that like Little Kitty, Big City will not earn Gold Points.
As for all those points you might have saved up, those will remain in your account for a maximum of 12 months from the date they are earnt, that is not changing. If you buy a lot of games on March 25th, before the cut off time, then those games will earn points and be valid until March 25, 2026.
There is an in-depth FAQ here that you can read, which has some additional information around pre-orders.
The other major change announced today is that Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers are only going to be valid for Switch games, not Switch 2. These vouchers have been around for almost the entire life of the Switch and give you two Nintendo published games at a discounted rate. Most games retail on Switch for $79.95, so with the voucher you get two games for $134.95, saving $25. That means instead of $79.95 for a game, you pay around $67, which is a good saving.
I know, that is a lot of math. The basic gist is that Nintendo were selling games cheaper via the program. But with those not being applied for Switch 2, that likely means one of two things, they are either annoyed at them losing money on their own games or Switch 2 games will be more expensive and that makes the program mute.
The program itself is still on going but it will only be for Switch games, not Switch 2. Of course, Nintendo could opt to end at anytime, so just be aware of that as well.
