MLB The Show 22 will offer full online and cross-play for most of its game modes
When MLB The Show 22 launches this April for PlayStation, Xbox and Switch, players will be able to take part in matches, even if their friends are not with them, as the game will now support online co-op play. The umm.. trailer… below will explain it.
If you didn’t follow along with the trailer, what it basically means is that you can now play online and squad up and play 2v2 or 3v3 with your favourite MLB or MiLB teams in Play Now mode online or with your card collection in Diamond Dynasty in MLB The Show 22.
But it isn’t just that you and your friends can play together on the same console, no the mode supports crossplay, meaning that you can team up with friends, family or random people, no matter which platform they have the game on, so PlayStation 5 and Switch, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, any combination works.
You can also combine your select Diamond Dynasty cards with your teammates’ collections to field the ultimate team and prove who the kings and queens of the diamond are.
There is a lot more for the game to still be shown off and San Diego Studio have a schedule, this week at least in the USA, a tech test is taking place, in order to ensure the online and cross platform functions work as intended.
On February 25th though, the team will release a deeper look into the Switch version of the game, in fact they are going to cover a lot, as we get closer to the games release. You can see the line up below, with the dates for when the news will be released, some will be in video form, others will likely be in text form.
The game is set to launch on April 5th for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Switch, with it being included in Xbox Game Pass at launch as well. Early access will be provided to folks who order the MPV Edition.
