Gran Turismo 7 is shifting back towards the traditional experience
In an interview with Octane, a Japanese site dedicated to the automobile and the lifestyle around it, Polyphony Digital’s Yamauchi Kazunori, revealed a few details about the upcoming Gran Turismo 7, if you forgot what it looked like, here is the debut trailer for it again.
In the interview, he talked about the impact that RTX or Ray-Tracing has had on the visuals:
In the evolution from PS4 to PS5, what we have been waiting for is the realization of real-time path tracing. Path tracing is a CG simulation method that is also called ray tracing, and faithfully reflects the reflection and reflection of the subject on the light source. CG for movies has been around for a long time, but it was difficult to obtain the computing power required to operate it in real time in a video game console. Being able to surpass that with PS5 has greatly improved expressiveness. […] In the scenery of the world, many of the smooth and shiny objects are automobiles. It uses a lot of metal and glass, and is beautifully painted. It can be expected to be even more effective in expressing such glossy things in a realistic manner.
In addition, when he was asked about any grand ideas for Gran Turismo 7 he said:
I think Gran Turismo Sports has created a fairly ambitious plan. So, while inheriting elements such as the championship realized in sports, Gran Turismo 7 will return to the royal purpose of full volume like 1 and 4 and provide the best Gran Turismo experience at present. Therefore, for those who know the old Gran Turismo, I think it smells a little nostalgic.
The idea that the series may not focus on the esports side of things as much, will likely be a relief to fans of the series, who were turned away by that in Gran Turismo Sport.
Regardless of what the game will include, there is no release date for it yet, so we just have to wait and see.
