Gran Turismo 7 will need to be always online
In an interview with Eurogamer, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi was asked about online, given that the 2017 release of Gran Turismo Sport had some odd online requirements and if you were hoping for good news, you are out of luck.
When asked if it was possible to play Gran Turismo 7 offline, especially when playing through the campaign, this was the answer that Yamauchi provided.
The online connection is required for the campaign mode. The only part of the game that doesn't require an online connection is the arcade mode, because that has no effect on the save data, so that's possible. But anything that has to do with the save data requires a connection. For example things like the livery data as well - that's something that is downloaded from the online server.
So there you go, for a game that lets you play on your own, you still need to be online, a requirement that is honestly strange.
Gran Turismo 7 will hit both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on March 4 next year, you can check out the recent trailer for the game below.
