Dynasty Warriors: Origins delivers its first story details

Koei Tecmo have released the first details for the story of Dynasty Warriors: Origins, which is coming in 2025 to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC.

The game introduces a new, deeper interpretation of the traditional Three Kingdoms storyline, which depicts ancient Chinese history. The story begins a year before the Yellow Turban Rebellion during the dawn of an era of great upheaval, when the protagonist, a martial artist with amnesia, visits a village suffering from famine. There, he meets Zhang Jiao, a long-haired man who offers a helping hand to people, and Guan Yu, a bearded warrior who denounces the injustice of government officials. Together, they fight against the forces of corrupt officials.

The story unfolds through the eyes of an amnesiac protagonist, journeying alone through historical events. The game presents episodes from the Three Kingdoms with enhanced clarity and detail, offering a vivid and captivating experience for both aficionados of Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Dynasty Warriors, as well as those new to the series.

Finally the game is aiming to deliver an overwhelming sense of realism on every battlefield, with the largest number of soldiers in the series’ history to date. Enemy soldiers attack in cooperation and are extremely formidable. While using your own skills to fight, you must also charge forward with your allies to clear the way. Once you storm the field and prepare to fight, you and your allies will collide with thousands of enemy soldiers of opposing armies, allowing you to experience a sense of realism and unprecedented scale of the battlefield. In addition, when meeting certain conditions, you can temporarily control Guan Yu and other officers marching forth by your side.

There is no release date for the game yet, beyond 2025, but the studio will have more updates to share in the future. When it does release it will hit PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.
