Acer Predator League Academy is back for another year

Acer have announced that after a successful first year the Acer Predator League Academy is back for a second go and will offer a little more this time around.

The Acer Predator League Academy is a program that provides students across Australia and New Zealand with a structured and social format that empowers high schools to participate in esports, with competitive PC gaming becoming increasingly more popular. Acer Predator League Academy offers an avenue for young esports talent to grow their potential, giving students a structured and engaging platform to participate in competitive PC gaming.

The inaugural year of Acer Predator League Academy saw 56 teams across 31 schools in Australia and New Zealand participating across two school terms, with Border Christian College declared the inaugural winners of the APLA tournament. 2025 sees APLA adopt the highly popular title, Valorant as the game of choice for the 2025 tournament.

The first year for Acer Predator League Academy was a resounding success, with Livewire proud to have worked with Predator Gaming to deliver the largest Fortnite tournament for students in APAC. We are looking to build on that momentum in 2025, with Valorant being introduced as the game of the tournament this year. We can’t wait to see some of the best and brightest high school esports talent battling it out, and are proud to be working with Predator Gaming to offer this opportunity to those looking to carve out a place for themselves one day on the international esports stage, with an increasing number of schools across ANZ exploring the connection between esports and education

So how does this work? Each school can register a team, which is made up of 5 students as the players and one teacher as the coach/monitor. Then each week starting May 6, the team will be matched up to play against another team from another school. Term 2 will end on June 24 where the winner will be crowned, after 6 weeks of matches and a week of finals.

The fun doesn’t stop there, as Term 3 kicks off on August 6 and will have teams compete again over 6 weeks, before fighting in the semi-finals and then the Grand Finals on September 24.

The winning team of Term 2 and Term 3 will then come together for a final fight at the Predator League Oceania Finals, to earn the ultimate bragging rights as the number 1 school team in ANZ. Registrations are free and can be done here. Registrations are open until April 30, so there is a good number of weeks, but again the students who want to take part must have a teacher from their school to join them.

A FAQ has been set up, which should answer any pressing questions.
