E3 2015 - Gioteck Bringing Headsets To The Masses
While E3 is very much about the games, there are a number of groups that attend to showcase their hardware, from mice and keyboards, to controllers and headsets, if you game there is a good chance you can locate some tech to help you.
Gioteck is one such company, based out of Britain, they are makers of gaming headsets but these are not the super expensive ones, in fact these are aimed at the everyman gamer but while they are priced low, they are not short on quality or features.
The first item I was able to check out is the LP1, yes I know not that catchy a name, but as a function product it's very cool. The LP1 is a Bluetooth headset that you can use for chatting in game, or you can sync it to your mobile phone and use it there as well. It offers up a swappable ear piece, meaning you can place it on either ear. The microphone at the end is noise isolating, which will help block out any other sounds you might have around you and add to that built in controls for volume and call functions and you have a nicely packed unit.
The LP1 is due for release in August and comes in three colours, Red, Black and Blue and will be priced from around $50.
The other headsets that Gioteck were showing off were the FL series, which range from the FL100 to the FL400 and offer a range of options depending on your budget and feature requirement. Let’s start with the FL100.
The FL100 is designed for those that want a great gaming headset, but are unable to spend a lot of money, the headset features a mono design, which allows for you to hear the rest of the world. The ear cup can rotate so it can sit on your head comfortably and the microphone is noise isolating as well as retractable, meaning you can put it away for when you travel. It is due in September and is expected to be priced around $40 and you can have your choice of them in black or black.
The FL200 comes with the same features as the 100 but it is in stereo as well as rocking a different cup design, which allows for airflow around your ear, for those long sessions. Again the ear cups can be rotated around for comfort, as well as being able to collapse for transport. Also due in September, the FL200 is expected to cost around $80 and offers up colours of Black, Blue and Green.
Now though we are breaking into the big boys of the FL series, the 300 and 400, but before we hit the 400, let’s take a look at the 300. Sporting Bluetooth compatibility, you can sync them up to your PC, phone or Console, meaning you have the power of where you want to use them. The headset again features the retractable microphone, meaning you can wear these out in public and people won’t think you’re weird or anything. But the coolest feature is that you can remove the ear cups from the band and then place them down wherever you want and they will play your music for you. Which means, rather than buying a headset and a set of Bluetooth speakers, you only need to by the FL300 and it does the same.
The FL300 is due in September again, a running theme here and will be priced at around $110 and comes in 4 different colour types, Blue, Black, Green and Red.
Finally the FL400, these badboys are the biggest ones in the range and will be available in September and be priced from $180, but for that money you get all this.
• Bluetooth and 2.4GHZ compatible
• External amplified speakers
• Unique chassis design with simple to remove ear-cups for use as Stereo BT desktop speakers
• Retractable flexible mic with mute LED status
• Internally folding and 180° rotating earcups
• Adjustable headband for super comfort
• Includes RF dongle for RF Wireless to PS4
• Compatible with XBO, PS4, PS3, PC, Mac, Mobile, Tablet
As with all of the other headsets, you get a retractable microphone, but this time it comes with a led on it, so you know when you are on mute. The ear cups can again be removed, allowing you to have your music playing no matter where you go.
So there you have it, Gioteck are offering up something for all budgets and feature hunters, which means the only problem you might have is trying to decide which one to get. I should point out that the prices are only estimates and may increase, or even decrease before we get to see them on store shelves, but it is nice to have an idea of course. I was able to hold the LP1, FL100 and FL400 and they all have a nice solid feel to them, without feeling heavy. The padding on the FL400 was very soft, but there was enough of it so long sessions with them on should not be a problem.
I hope to review these when they become available, so look for that, but in the meantime, if you need a new headset, the Gioteck range is worth your attention.
