Nintendo Bolsters amiibo with Characters & Games
During the Nintendo Direct that occurred overnight, Nintendo announced more details about amiibo and the new figures and updates coming, settle in, because there was a lot announced.
Nintendo announced that Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS will get an update in February that will bring amiibo support to the game, which means the 3 waves of figures will work with the game. But that is not all, along side that announcement was the one where another six characters are getting the Smash Bros amiibo treatment.
Robin, Lucina, Wario, Charizard, Ness and Pacman are coming, check them out below.
But that is not all, as you can probably guess from the image located at the very top, a new Super Mario series of amiibo has also been announced. Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser and Yoshi are getting new looks and along side them Toad is also getting his very first amiibo.
If you already own the Smash Bros amiibo, then you don't have to rebuy the Super Mario amiibo, as they will work with all the titles that support them, just like they do with Mario Kart 8. If however you wish to use your Smash Bros amiibo in Mario Party 10, you will lose your fighter data stored on that amiibo.
The reason that you may want to use your amiibo with Mario Party 10 is that it adds an all new game mode to it, Amiibo Party. The new “amiibo Party mode” brings amiibo compatibility to the classic party-game series. Tapping an amiibo to the GamePad lets players use that character as a game piece, as well as play on a game board themed to that classic character.
So that is it, we are getting 6 brand new Super Mario themed amiibo, 6 new Super Smash Bros amiibo, added functionality to Captain Toad Treasure Tracker and Mario Party 10. The Super Mario amiibo, Mario Party 10 and the Captain Toad update are all happening on March 21st, the additional Super Smash Bros amiibo will be out in April.
