XIII is set to get updated this September, with the Switch version also releasing the same time
After releasing back in 2020 as a hot mess, Microids have announced that XIII is getting a major overhaul on all platforms on September 13, which is also the same day that the Switch version will finally release.
In order to make this happen, the French pubisher hired an entirely different studio to not only bring the game to Switch, but also correct the art style, update the AI and more, here is everything that is coming on September 13.
As part of the news, Microids has released a statement about the work, whilst apologising again for the lacklustre release in the first place.
“We are fully aware and terribly sorry that the initial launch of XIII Remake on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC did not reach players’ expected quality standards. A bit more than a year ago we took the decision to hire the studio Tower Five to finish the development of the game. Tower Five worked with us in the past, notably on the great port of Agatha Christie: The ABC Murders on Nintendo Switch. We really wanted to take the time to fix the game and offer owners of XIII Remake a free update paying the best possible tribute to the original game we all love. The Nintendo Switch version of the game will of course benefit from all the work done to improve the game as well as the multiplayer mode, which will mark the end of the game’s development. We can’t wait for players to put their hands on this improved version of the game and (re)discover the classic adventures of Agent XIII, as soon as it’s released after the Summer.” declares Stéphane Longeard, CEO de Microids.
With all the news being about the existing game being updated, the reveal of the Switch version coming out is perhaps more exciting. As part of that announcement, we also have the first footage of the game in action, which you can watch below.
Plus we have some new screens, which are from the Switch release, but will show you just much improved the visuals are for the other versions as well. Check out a rough comparison below these screens of the old style to the new.
