The Settlers are planting their flag on PC once again this March
Ubisoft have announced that The Settlers, their long running strategy series will once again return to PC, rebooted for the modern age, though with a heavy dose of inspiration from the series legacy of titles, check out the new trailer for it below.
With this latest title in the series, players can expect a fresh take on the formula that has been crafted over the years, with The Settlers 3 and The Settlers 4 being heavy influences on many aspects. Built from the ground up using Ubisoft’s Snowdrop Engine - the same one that powers The Division, Mario+Rabbids and the upcoming Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, The Settlers is aiming to set a new visual benchmark in the RTS game genre.
Traditional and new players will experience lush and colourful environmental biomes, as well as modernised gameplay. Players can enjoy The Settlers in one of three game modes: single-player campaign, Onslaught and skirmish (Solo vs. AI, co-op vs. AI or PvP featuring up to eight players).
In The Settlers, the Elari (one of the factions in the game) are forced to flee from their homeland and must settle on new and unknown lands. Adventure awaits as The Settlers come across other citizens and face tough challenges on their journey. There are a total of three playable factions in The Settlers, each with a unique look, playstyle and respective background story.
For those who want to get in on the action early, there is a closed beta that is taking place, beginning on January 20, but in order to be in on it, you need to register for it, but not everyone who signs up will get in.
When the full game releases on March 17, players can opt for the base game, or the Deluxe Edition, which comes with the game, along with the deluxe pack and other digital goodies, which will be outlined in detail, closer to release.
