The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power gets a proper trailer thanks to Comic-Con
San Diego Comic-Con came alive with the sounds of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, not only did we get a new trailer for the show, which you can see below, but we also got the reveal of the composers working on the show.
If you are thinking that this is a TV version of the Lord of the Rings books, then you would be wrong, this is in fact a prequel series, that is set thousands of years before that. Viewers will be taken back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness.
Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.
In addition to the new trailer and images above, we also got confirmation that Howard Shore, the composer for all three Lord of the Rings movies, as well as all three Hobbit movies, is working on the series. While he is not doing the entire score, he has written the main title theme for the series, helping it to connect to the existing movies, beyond the fact that it was filmed in middle-earth, I mean New Zealand.
The composer for the rest of the music is Bear McCreary, whose name might be familiar to anyone who has seen The Walking Dead, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and on the big screen Godzilla: King of the Monsters and in the world of games, God of War and its upcoming sequel Ragnarok.
“With their deep understanding of the Tolkien legendarium, coupled with two of the greatest musical talents of our age, we’re thrilled that Howard and Bear are joining us on this epic journey to Middle-earth,” said Bob Bowen, Worldwide Head of Music for Amazon Studios.
“As I set out to compose the score for this series, I strove to honor Howard Shore’s musical legacy,” said McCreary. “When I heard his majestic main title, I was struck by how perfectly his theme and my original score, though crafted separately, fit together so beautifully. I am excited for audiences to join us on this new musical journey to Middle-earth.”
If you like the sound of the composers working on the series, then you will be happy to hear that two of the tracks, Galadriel and Sauron are available to listen to on Amazon Music, we have linked one below.
