The first gameplay trailer and details are here for Dead Space
Overnight, Electronic Arts and developer Motive revealed the first official gameplay trailer for Dead Space, which shows off the games updated look. They also provided some details about the new systems that will make the game feel all-new, even for long time fans of the series, check it out.
While the game has gotten a massive visual polish since it was first released, the game has been updated in other areas as well, sticking with the visuals though, the game now features what the devs are calling the Peeling System.
If you were hoping that it was something to do with cooking in the kitchen of the USS Ishimura, I am gonna let you down, no the Peeling System adds layers to the enemies. That means that flesh, tendons and bones can break, shatter and tear, in different ways depending on how you attack them.
In addition, the game is going to also include the Intensity Director, a system which adjusts the flow of the game, though they are not exactly clear on what triggers it. Basically the Intensity Director can adjust what shows up in Isaac’s path, adding more enemies and even changing their spawn locations, to upping the environmental impacts, with light, smoke and more all being used to create a more creepy space. Even the heartbeat, breathing and exertion will impact Isaac, based on the stress the character has and should provide more feedback to players.
Finally, the game is going to be without load screens, or camera cuts, meaning that once you step foot onto the USS Ishimura, you are going to be in the boots of Isaac Clarke, complete with voice this time, for the entire run.
In a unique way of doing a Collector’s Edition, EA have teamed up with Limited Run Games to bring a set to players, priced at $275 USD or $430 AUD (shipping is not included in that price), players can get a copy of the game and the Dead Space Collector's Box, which contains:
Isaac Helmet
Full-size wearable helmet with working lights
Dead Space CD Soundtrack
Lithograph Print
Foil Stamped Lithograph Folio
Four Mini Posters
Ishimura Patch
Marker Enamel Pin
Metal 4" Marker Statue
Dead Space SteelBook
In a move that is welcome, the game itself will be shipped out when the game releases elsewhere, meaning January 27th, with the rest of the set coming later. The collection is available for Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5 and PC, with orders being taken today.
