Star Wars Starfighter is hitting cinema screens in 2027

During the Lucasfilm panel at Star Wars Celebration, after months of rumours it was confirmed that Shawn Levy will be directing an all-new Star Wars movie, with it set to release in May 2027, a local date was not confirmed but May 27 is likely. Right now, all we have to enjoy is the logo.

Details on the movie are scarce, mostly because it was just announced and is going into production later this year, but we do know the following. The movie is set 5 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker, which puts it around 5 years before the events of the still unnamed sequel movie being directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and starring Daisy Ridley.

The movie will star Ryan Gosling and he will play an original character to the series, and that is it. Both Levy and Gosling were on stage in Japan to reveal the movie. For those who are saying that there already is a Star Wars Starfighter, you are correct, but as Disney said that anything made that was not a movie or TV show before they bought Lucasfilm does not count, the game is considered extended universe.
