Sigma Star Saga is reloading for another go in 2025
WayForward have announced that they are bringing Sigma Star Saga to players once again, as they partner yet again with Limited Run Games and their Carbon Engine to allow this GameBoy Advance classic to run on modern devices.
The game is currently only dated for 2025, however given the game will be 20 years old next August, it wouldn’t surprise me to see it delay until then for celebration purposes.
As far as platforms go, the only confirmed release is PC as the others are just bundled under ‘consoles’. It is very likely all will get it, as all Carbon Engine games hit all platforms, but I suspect they are waiting for Switch 2 to be announced, before they confirm. One unique release is that the game will get a GameBoy Advance cart print as well, meaning that you can enjoy the game on the actual hardware.
As for the game, here is a description provided by WayForward.
Featuring a unique mix of top-down planetary exploration and side-scrolling shoot ’em up space battles, Sigma Star Saga casts players as Allied Earth Federation pilot Ian Recker, who infiltrates the alien Krill Empire as a double agent in a last-ditch effort to save mankind from their onslaught. To do so, Recker must work with both humans and the Krill, exploring six planets utilizing an ever-expanding set of tools and abilities, and jumping into the cockpit to engage enemy forces in intense shmup-style combat using more than 70 different Gun Data items. Gorgeous pixel-art graphics, epic boss battles, and a twist-filled story with multiple endings await.
