Season 2 for Battlefield 2042 is coming and bringing some big changes
Electronic Arts have announced new details about the upcoming Season 2 of Battlefield 2042, including its new map, new specialist, updates for Portal and more. The Season 2 update is set to launch on August 30 and you can check out the trailer for it below.
Let’s talk details, first the new map. Called Stranded, the maps location is in Panama and central to the map is the massive ship that is there. What was a massive lake has been dried up and with the ship that was stuck, an illicit arms trading shop has been set up and because of what they are selling, both sides want in.
Two maps from the launch of the game, Orbital and Renewal are also getting changes made in Season 2, adding better traversal, more cover and additional changes, which should address some of the issues players have with both. Renewal will arrive first in September, with Orbital coming in October.
On the side of the specialist, we have Charlie Crawford, a former arms dealer who knows a bit about the new location. His main ability is to drop a mounted Vulcan minigun onto the map, which can create a shield around the front of it, providing some protection for its operator. The gun can also be used by anyone else on the field of battle, meaning members of your own team, but also others. As an arms dealer. Crawford knows that bullets are important, which is why he can also resupply squad members with ammo for their gadgets.
Speaking of weapons, there are two new weapons to enjoy in this update, the AM40 and the Avancys, here is a little on each.
AM40
This powerful carbine is designed to offer a midpoint between an assault rifle and a submachine gun.
AVANCYS
A high-tech LMG, designed for maximum mobility and attachment compatibility. Nimble but powerful, this weapon is useful for providing fire support.
On the gadget side of things, a new grenade type is being provided, the Concussion Grenade, which will disorientate all enemies within its range.
As for getting around the game is offering two new vehicles, the EBLC-RAM and the Polaris RZR. While the latter one is a buggy and as such is nimble and fast, the EBLC-RAM is different, as it can protect itself from incoming damage with its AMPs ability and place a spawn beacon on the battlefield.
Battlefield Portal is also getting updates in this season, with 5 new weapons from across Battlefield 3, Bad Company 2, and Battlefield 1942. New extra-small paces focus on the best areas for close quarters combat across several current maps and allow players to build intense experiences.
In addition, you will be able to leverage the Battlefield toybox even further within Battlefield Portal. The Builder’s new Custom Conquest pre-set allows new rule modifications to the classic Conquest mode, while user-editable objectives will spawn many novel game types.
