Pokémon Legends reveals its first gameplay details and trailer

As part of their recent Pokémon Presents, The Pokémon Company revealed the first actual footage of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, first up was a new trailer for the game.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A is set in Lumiose City, where an urban redevelopment plan is underway to shape the city into a place that belongs to both people and Pokémon. After arriving in Lumiose City, players will befriend a Pokémon that will become their first partner Pokémon: Chikorita, Tepig, or Totodile. Yes, there are two Gen II starters and one from Gen V.
The second trailer was more of a gameplay showcase, while not showing everything that was going on, it did show off quite a bit more. Including how catching Pokémon works in the city, check it out below.
You should have caught this in the video above, but for the first time ever, Pokémon battles are real time. No longer will players take turns with attacks, while standing in place, now Pokémon will move around and attack when they want. New gameplay mechanics include precise timing for swapping out Pokémon or using moves, the different lengths of time moves will take to launch, and the total area the moves will impact.
In addition to exploring the city, throughout it there are a number of Wild Zones, these are special areas where Pokémon can live as they like, so naturally that is where you will capture them.
There were a number of zones shown off in the trailer, with each appearing to have a variety of Pokémon to catch. It also confirms that Pokémon from across the generations are being included, as we see Bunnelby in one scene and that is a Gen IV Pokémon and Krokorok is a Gen V.
While visiting Lumiose City, players will stay in an old hotel named Hotel Z and encounter the hotel’s owner, AZ—plus his partner Pokémon, Eternal Flower Floette, an unusual Floette that holds a black flower. This hotel will serve as players’ base of operations as they experience all sorts of adventures in Lumiose City alongside new and exciting characters, such as Urbain or Taunie—a new friend players will make throughout their adventures. The appearance players choose at the beginning of the game will determine which of the two they’ll meet.
We also have new art for the characters below, in order they are Female Trainer, Male Trainer, AZ, Vinnie, Jett, Taunie, Urbain and Eternal Flower Floette.
Right now the game is only said to be releasing at the end of the year, but there is nothing firmer than that.
