Nvidia release a new driver ahead of the Minecraft RTX beta
With the announcement of a beta for the RTX enabled version of Minecraft for Windows 10, there are a few things that need to happen, behind the scenes as it were, to ensure that things are ready, once the beta is live at 3am on the 17 of April, which is very early tomorrow.
One such thing is the release of the new Nvidia driver, something you can get here if you need to, as without the driver update, you won’t be able to see the RTX enhancements to Minecraft. But the RTX version of the game is not just getting some fancy lights, there is also the rollout of DLSS 2.0 and more detailed textures.
Minecraft with RTX features an advanced form of ray tracing called path tracing, new physically-based materials, and NVIDIA DLSS 2.0. These technologies combine to deliver a stunning new level of graphical quality in Minecraft, the world’s best-selling video game. NVIDIA will also be making 6 new Minecraft with RTX worlds available in the Minecraft Marketplace for gamers to enjoy for free, along with guides for creators to build their own new RTX worlds.
This announcement illustrates the continued momentum that ray tracing is building in the gaming ecosystem. The fact that Minecraft is getting ray tracing illustrates that ray tracing is mainstream. Minecraft will expose ray tracing to millions of gamers of all ages and backgrounds.
You only get one chance to make a first impression, and games are no exception. NVIDIA is working hard to make every game’s first impression a good one, even if the game is still in development. The importance that Game Ready drivers offer is that they aim to support all major milestones for games and gamers, meaning they are always working to bring he best experience every time you play. As titles continue to evolve with new content and features through patches and DLC, so do the drivers, which explains the constent updates.
