Mina the Hollower is the next title from Yacht Club Games

Yacht Club Games revealed their next title and while it has been announced, it will be a while until its ready as they are aiming for a December 2023 release. Say hello to Mina The Hollower, check out the reveal trailer below.

The game is mostly being funded by the studio, but they have opted to go to Kickstarter with the claim, that it lets the community help shape the game, you can follow the progress and back it here.

“We want your feedback, collaboration, and support in making Mina the Hollower the best game it can possibly be. That’s why we’re returning to our roots and kicking off Mina the Hollower’s development as a KickStarter campaign. Though we’re financing a majority of this project ourselves, we hope we can create a more expansive game this way. More importantly, we want to build a community around Kickstarter, much as we did with Shovel Knight. We also want to share our development process, more than ever before!” said Alec Faulkner, Director of Mina the Hollower.

In this new game, players will take control of Mina, a renowned Hollower (they are are a guild dedicated to studying the earth and its latent resources), who is hurtled into a desperate mission to rescue a cursed island. Burrow beneath hazards and monsters, whip foes into oblivion, and gear up with an arsenal of sidearms and trinkets.

Explore a vast world filled with pixel-perfect graphics, masterful gameplay, beastly bosses, and infectious music. Encounter a cast of bizarre characters, search out secrets in an array of exotic locales, and illuminate the omnipresent darkness.

Something you may have noticed is that the game looks very much like Link’s Awakening from the Game Boy and while gameplay wise, that is likely due to the gameplay they wanted to offer, the visuals are actually being created to match what the original Game Boy Colour could create.

When the game releases, it should come to PC, Switch, Xbox and PlayStation, though exact platforms are not locked in place, so if you plan to back, just be aware of that fact.
