GTA V is getting a new home on next gen platforms
PlayStation kicked off the PlayStation 5 reveal event in the stupidest way possible, showing a PS4 montage real, sadly though it did not improve as they then showed off Grand Theft Auto V. Now the news that GTA V is coming to PlayStation 5 is cool, but it should not have been the game to lead off the next generation reveal with, as you know, it is not next gen.
Rockstar have announced that the new release of the game, which is coming to PlayStation 5 in the second half of 2021, will feature a range of visual upgrades, technical improvements and performance enhancements, to make the game take use of the new hardware, but what they are, is yet to be seen.
The other thing that is weird, in the official release they have said it is coming to a new generation of consoles, including PlayStation 5, which would likely mean Xbox Series X is being included, but they don’t say so. The other catch is that they could be bringing the game to Switch, though that is a long shot.
Finally, all PlayStation Plus members on PlayStation 4 will get GTA$1,000,000 (deposited into their in-game Maze Bank account within 72 hours of log-in) each month they play GTA Online until the launch of GTA Online on PlayStation 5. Then if you swap to the PlayStation 5 console, you can claim the game for free, as part of your PS Plus membership, for the first three months, once the console has released.
