Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut is expanding the game and bringing it to PlayStation 5 as well

PlayStation Studios have announced that Sucker Punch is bringing back Ghost of Tsushima on August 20 for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, with the new Director’s Cut edition of the game, which brings the game and all previously released content and some all new stuff, check out the announcement trailer for it below.

In addition to the full game, here is everything else that the Director’s Cut will include:

  • Iki Island expansion: New story, mini-games, enemy types and more.

  • Legends online co-op mode.

  • Digital mini art book.

  • One Technique Point.

  • Charm of Hachiman’s Favor.

  • Hero of Tsushima Skin Set: Golden Mask, Sword Kit, Horse, Saddle.

  • Director’s commentary: The creative team sits down with a renowned Japanese historian to look at the world of Ghost of Tsushima and how it compares to the real-life events that inspired it.

You might have noticed Iki Island above, that is an all new location, which will let Jin explore the neighbouring island, which was also invaded during the same time. While Jin will be headed there to investigate the Mongol presence, he will soon find himself in events that will impact him more deeply than he could have imagined.

In addition to the new content, as the game is coming to PlayStation 5, to which anyone who owns the PlayStation 4 version of the game gets access - for a fee, there will be enhancements across the board. One of the more important ones is that with the cutscenes being rendered in real-time, the lipsync for the Japanese audio is going to be more accurate.

The game will also make use of the DualSense controller, offer up to 4K dynamic resolution, whilst targeting 60fps and 3D audio, as long as you have the right hardware to take advantage of them.

Now we come to cost, the Director’s Cut release will be sold on its own in stores, but existing owners of the game can upgrade. Local pricing is not yet confirmed, but ball park for upgrades should be $30 on the PlayStation 4 and $40 for the PlayStation 5.

If you choose not to get the Director’s Cut and still just play the game on the PlayStation 5, there will be a host of updates to improve the game made available, but no word on if you get the PlayStation 5 specific update.
