EA Sports F1 25 reinvents My Team and more

Electronic Arts and Codemasters are back at it again with another Formula 1 title, with EA Sports F1 25 racing to release this may. But while it might be another yearly entry, the team have worked on bringing some big elements into the release, first up the new My Team 2.0. Check out the trailer to get an overview of it.
My Team was added to the series back in 2020, before Codemasters were bought by EA and since then the mode has just delivered the same basics with each release, until now. The big change for My Team 2.0 is that you are now no longer the driver and the owner, instead you will only own everything and have to deal with two drivers.
One of the reasons that the team went this way is that it was determined that it was not a lot of fun trying to juggle both, but the other is that its not authentic. If you look at any F1 team today, no one who sits behind the wheel of a team car, is also balancing spreadsheets as the do that.
With you getting out from behind the wheel and living behind the desk, it also means when it comes down to making a choice between the two drivers of your team, that choice could be something challenging, as you are not going to benefit directly. As you make choices and win races, your owner will earn XP, which can then be used to customise the type of owner you want to be.
The game will offer up three distinct owner types as a baseline, that you can then expand upon from there. These are the three classes:
Engineering: Research and Development are now separated for the first time, allowing for more flexibility when manufacturing new parts and choosing how to apply them. Now, players will have to balance cost, development timings, and sometimes one driver over another, which can impact the driver's perception of your team in future contract negotiations.
Personnel: F1 25 introduces a dynamic driver contract system. To shape the team’s future lineup, owners can meet multiple drivers face-to-face to discuss terms, though leaked conversations can sabotage deals. Beyond drivers, owners must manage their Workforce. Its size will impact both costs and efficiency: more hires accelerate R&D and facility upgrades, but overexpansion risks breaching the Cost Cap.
Corporate: The Corporate facility centralices financial strategy, requiring players to manage seasonal spending to avoid deficits. A new Decal Editor allows for greater customization options for livery designs and defining a team’s visual identity, while an updated sponsor system helps players build relationships with title sponsors over time.
Earning XP is just one part of the progression, the other is the enhanced Fan System. As you complete accolades, something that was introduced in the Driver career in F1 24 and be the winner in Team Rivalries, you will earn fans. The more fans you have, the higher your prestige gets and the more people focus on you.
But Fan Rating is not all you need to worry about, as Fan Sentiment is the other half of the equation. There are countless folks that are fans of a sports team, choose any sport in the world and any team, but being a fan and see your team lose means that you won’t be happy with them. The same happens here, if your team has a lot of fans, but is not gaining attention for the right reasons, the Fan Sentiment can drop. Having both of these up means that you can earn new sponsorship opportunities, get newer and more well regarded drivers and more.
The Fan Rating and Sentiment will also impact the brand new Contract System. This is new for the series and basically gives each of the drivers a point of view on you as a manager. If you rank high, they might approach you with a small list of demands in order for them to jump ship to you, but if you rank low, they might have a much more complex list of demands of you.
With all the decisions above, the type of owner you are, the successes and loses, the fans and driver responses, all comes together in the new Team HQ. This is not just a new office space, but rather an evolving one. Sure there there is all the ‘fun’ that comes with being a boss, but the decisions you make can impact how it behaves. If you increase the size of Engineering, then you can have more engineers, which can improve your resource speed, of course it will also increase the cost of running it.
There is a lot more for the My Team 2.0 overhaul, like R&D being split into their own buckets. For the full breakdown of the updates, check out the official site.
