Diablo Immortal conjures up a release on mobile and PC this June
Blizzard have announced that on June 2nd, mobile players on both iPhone and Android devices will be able to take down evil, wherever it and they happen to be, when the game releases in full there. In addition, the game will also enter an open beta state on PC, complete with cross-play support between the games.
The game was first revealed as a mobile only title, which many people were not happy about, so it is nice to see Blizzard expand to PC. The reason why is actually quite funny:
In the end, the deciding factor was that we knew many of you would attempt to play this game through an emulator, thus leading us towards building a better experience
Which if we are being honest, we would all know that one person who plays a mobile game via a mobile emulator, for some reason.
“The demons of the Burning Hells are ready to be slain in the most expansive Diablo game that Blizzard has ever released, said Mike Ybarra, president of Blizzard Entertainment. As Blizzard’s first game designed from the ground up for mobile, it was important to us to deliver an experience worthy of the franchise, so we did a lot of testing, incorporated a lot of feedback, and created a game that we’re very excited to share with players. We’re looking forward to unleashing this epic new entry in the Diablo franchise, and we can’t wait to join everyone in Sanctuary.”
As the PC release is only going to be Open Beta, the full release could be sometime away, but when it releases, players will find a major change to the PC release, the support of movement with the WASD keys. You can still opt for the traditional movement, but now you can just use the mouse for attacking, which is nice to see.
There is more to read up on, regarding the PC-ification of the mobile game and you can do that here.
Below you can see some more mobile screens, as well as the first PC screens from the game.
