Destiny 2 gets next gen upgrades this December
Bungie have announced that Destiny 2 Beyond Light will hit Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 much sooner than you thought, with the next gen optimised games coming on December 8.
While you will be able to play the game on November 10 or November 12, depending on your platform, those will just be the current versions of the game. When the updated games released on December 8, those who own the game will get the enhanced version for free.
Before that is released, you will get faster load times and cross-generation play, but once the update hits you will be able to play the game at 60fps 4K. In addition there are some new features being added to these versions as well.
They are offering Field of View customisation on consoles for the first time. The goal is to enable a FOV range similar to that on PC. The feature is currently in testing to ensure smooth performance across each platform and additional details will be revealed closer to launch.
There will be noticeable improvements to things like loading the game and inspecting character inventory. However, some load times are dependent on networking and matchmaking. So, loading activities still takes time while you search for opponents.
For cross-generation play, Xbox Series X|S players can play with Xbox One players. PlayStation 5 players can play with PlayStation 4 players.
So there you go, you can start the day the console you are playing on is released, but you will only have to wait a few more weeks to get the best experience possible.
