Dell are testing a new cycle of computer design with Concept Luna

Over the years, laptops have always fallen short of desktops in one very big issue, you can’t upgrade them, sure you might be able to swap out the hard drive for a larger one, but that is about it, but Dell are looking to change that.

Concept Luna is first and foremost, not a device for sale, but more an idea of what devices from the company might look like in the future, check out the video, to see what I mean.

Glen Robson, the Chief Technology Officer for the Client Solutions Group at Dell, released a blog talking about what Concept Luna, you can read the entire post here.

What I took away from what was said though, was this singular line:

“But if all the design ideas in Concept Luna were realised, we could expect to see an estimated 50% reduction in overall product carbon footprint“

So if Dell move ahead with this, not only will their laptops use less materials to make, be more efficient for the environment and allow users to replace or upgrade parts as needed, without needing a degree in computer repair.

But again, this is just a concept and if we measure this by Razer, it might never come to pass, but at least the company is thinking ahead.
