Company of Heroes 3 has been announced, a technical alpha is available to play right now
Not content with rebooting an iconic series with Age of Empires, Relic Entertainment have also been hard at work on the next chapter of their own series, Company of Heroes 3, which takes the the action to the Mediterranean, check out the reveal trailer below.
The game is set to tell the tale of Operation Husky, an Allied Forces push, to remove the Axis from Italy and surrounding areas. What kicked off in the middle of 1943 lasted well into 1945, making it one of the longer campaigns from the second world war.
When playing the game, you will get to choose if you recreate the same events that took place, or create your own version of things, which is all made possible with that iconic Company of Heroes gameplay.
“We’re really excited for players to experience Company of Heroes 3 right from the pre-alpha stage and to receive their valuable feedback,” said Justin Dowdeswell, General Manager at Relic Entertainment. “We’ve been co-developing the game with our fantastic community members for years now, and they have been instrumental in providing consistent and meaningful feedback at every step of the development process. We are ready to expand that program in a massive way with our fans around the world via our COH-Development Program, which has been made possible by Amplitude Studios’ fantastic Games2Gether platform.”
The core of the gameplay is inspired by the original Company of Heroes, but will now feature a more dynamic map, that will evolve the gameplay you experience, based on the choices you make, check out the gameplay reveal below, to get an idea of what to expect.
Everything that players can expect to enjoy in this next chapter is not yet revealed, but Relic are promising a deep and replayable story, along with a series of single player and co-op skirmish modes. Plus a full suite of competitive multiplayer, with maps that will scale in size, depending on the number of players, you can learn more about the gameplay tenets on the official blog.
As for when you can try it, the full game will release on PC in 2022, but for three weeks starting today, those who register with the games official site, can get access to the technical alpha.
