Batman: Caped Crusader gets its air date and first trailer
The first trailer for Season 1 of Batman: Caped Crusader has landed and looks very much like a sequel to Batman: The Animated Series, but it is something else entirely. Check out the trailer below.
The show will drop all 10 episodes onto Prime Video, that is Amazon’s service in case you forgot, on August 1st.
What should give fans confidence is that the show is being overseen by Bruce Timm, the man who brought Batman and many DC characters to TV screens kicking off with Batman: The Animated Series. He is not alone as the show is also being produced by J.J. Abrams, but also Matt Reeves, who is best know as the director of The Batman.
The series stars Hamish Linklater as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Christina Ricci as Catwoman/Selina Kyle, Jamie Chung as Harley Quinn/Dr. Harleen Quinzel, and Diedrich Bader as Harvey Dent/Two-Face. The casting of Diedrich Bader as Two-Face is hilarious to me, as the actor previously voiced Batman for 4 years in Batman: Brave and the Bold.
The rest of the cast consists of Minnie Driver, Mckenna Grace, Eric Morgan Stuart, Michelle C. Bonilla, Krystal Joy Brown, John DiMaggio, Paul Scheer, Reid Scott, Tom Kenny, Jason Watkins, Gary Anthony Williams, Dan Donohue, David Krumholtz, Haley Joel Osment and Toby Stephens.
Tom Kenny and John DiMaggio are also returning Batman/DC alums having voiced characters like Plastic Man, Deadshot, Gorilla Grodd, Black Adam and Aquaman before, no word on who they are voicing this time.
