Alan Wake 2 is getting new content and a physical release

At the recent Summer Game Fest 2024 Showcase, Remedy Entertainment were on hand to reveal some details about Alan Wake 2, one of which was an expansion pass that will offer three new stories to discover and they are out tomorrow.

The expansion contains three stand-alone stories, each of which has a different character in the lead, here is the brief breakdown for each.

  • Put yourself in the shoes of the Number One Fan, who bears a striking resemblance to the waitress Rose Marigold, and fight the shadows in pursuit of truth and love with your trusty shotgun by your side.

  • As the Actor, who may be called “Shawn Ashmore” in some realities and “Sheriff Timothy Breaker” in others, you will take on the mantle of the Time Breaker and defeat the villain hunting for you.

  • In the North Star episode, unravel coffee-based secrets and cosmic caffeine mysteries as the Sibling, who may seem familiar to those who know Jesse Faden, director of the Federal Bureau of Control.

In Night Springs, players will fight and puzzle their way through familiar, yet transformed locations. Expect more dream logic, twists and turns that only a sci-fi adventure written by Alan Wake can provide, and even more experimenting with different types of media, like a playable arcade game and a comic book.

Night Springs will be available with the Alan Wake 2 Expansion Pass, which is included in both the digital Deluxe Edition and the upcoming physical Deluxe and Collector’s Editions of Alan Wake 2. The second expansion, The Lake House, will be available later in year so more details will come then.

The second piece of game news is that when the expansion arrives tomorrow, a free update will also be made available and includes a photo mode. There are a host of features that if you sampled the photo mode in Control, will see familiar to you. The Photo Mode comes with several different filters and frames, including postcard frames from different locations around the game.

Finally, the game is getting a physical edition. When it was announced on stage, my first thought was I hope its not via Limited Run Games and you know what, it is.

This is an open order item, which means there is no limit, so you don’t have to rush to get your order in. It also means there is no telling how long it will take before the items are produced, because they won’t know how many they need to make until the order close in Late July. All the details will come tomorrow, for now we have the below image to get your hype started.
