Nyth Gaming Mouse Hands On - EB Expo

Roccat are a maker I am familiar with, mostly in name, but I know they have a following and a lot of that comes from the fact that they are willing to try completely new things and not just refine the existing. The Nyth is another one of those new things and at EB Expo I was able to go hands on with it.

The Nyth is a mouse, if you were not sure at this point and its different from the other ones around as it is completely customizable by you, by default the mouse has the standard two buttons on top, scroll wheel, back button and the common gamer add-on the 12 side buttons, but it is here that the Nyth moves away from what the rest are doing and becomes something more. Should you have slightly larger hands or want a place for the rest of your hand to go, you can simply swap out the right side of the mouse with the other option included, but that is not all.

At any point, you can remove the 12 buttons that are on the side of the Nyth and replace them with a range of ones that come packed in, if you find you want larger buttons, you can take the 1 and 2 and turn it into one large button, or if you only want 6 buttons, you can make the others blank, the configuration options are limitless here, there are even some button replacements that take up 4 spots to give you a much larger surface area.

What makes the mouse standout from the rest is that Roccat are giving everyone the 3d files, so that if you have access to a 3d printer, you can actually print out your own buttons, so you can print colours to match actions, or if you want one giant button instead of the 12 smaller ones you can do that as well. If you don’t have access to your own 3d printer, then don’t worry as Roccat has also teamed up with Shapeways, where for a minimal cost, you can get the buttons you want printed for you, heck you can even get a giant plate printed to remove the buttons completely.

The Nyth has a lot happening on the surface, let alone once you head into the custom options available, but none of that stands in the way of delivering a wonderful feeling mouse that responds and moves with little effort, of course long term use is another thing, but early indicators show that the Nyth is something from legend come true. If you are interested in picking up one for yourself, they are available in Australia exclusively through EB Games.
