Disney Interactive have finally made it official, Disney Infinity 3.0 is coming and its Star Wars focused, but still includes Disney Original, Pixar and Marvel characters and playsets.

The all new starter pack will coming with the Disney Infinity base, game disc, two figures Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano, a web code and the Twilight of the Republic game piece. Players will then be able to purchase addition playsets for Star Wars, Inside Out and Marvel.

“Disney Infinity is the only game where fans can play with Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars characters together in one experience,” said James Pitaro, President, Disney Interactive.  “We worked closely with Lucasfilm to deliver an authentic Star Wars game experience, featuring some of the most iconic stories and characters from the past, present and future.”

The playset that comes with the game is titled 'Twilight of the Republic' where players will join Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and his trusty Padawan Ahsoka Tano on an intergalactic adventure to uncover secret plots, defeat villains and to bring peace back to the galaxy.  Featuring an original story set in the Episodes I-III timeline, players will travel through four iconic locations, use the Force and Lightsabers in epic battles, and master their combat skills.

The other Star Wars Playset that will be around at launch is called Rise Against the Empire and it will task players to embark on a galaxy-spanning mission to overthrow the evil Galactic Empire with legendary Jedi Luke Skywalker and Rebel leader Princess Leia with help from heroic smuggler Han Solo and his trusty co-pilot Chewbacca.  Experience the epic saga with non-stop action, piloting X-wing Fighters or the Millennium Falcon to fight stormtroopers, or exploring and partaking in land-based missions on planets like Tatooine, Hoth and Endor.

The final Star Wars playset, which is based around the events of The Force Awakens will be released in Summer. The new Marvel playset will take inspiration from the Ultron movie where players can suit up as Hulkbuster Iron Man and fight the Hulk and Ultron.

“Star Wars is a cross-generational franchise, and Disney Infinity 3.0 creates an incredible opportunity for families and fans to relive their favourite Star Wars moments,” said John Blackburn, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Disney Infinity.  “With the addition of Star Wars, Inside Out and new Disney and Marvel characters, Disney Infinity 3.0 will be the most ambitious and diverse offering yet and also the most accessible.”

Disney Infinity 3.0 will also introduce an all-new, 3-D Toy Box Hub that will make it easier for players to choose from a wider selection of gameplay experiences — including platform, racing, and farming simulation games.  Two new multiplayer Toy Box Expansion Games will bring action-adventure gameplay in Toy Box Takeover and kart racing in Toy Box Speedway, where kids and families can play with popular Disney, Disney•Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars characters together in a structured setting.

Alongside the Star Wars characters, Sam Flynn and Quorra have been confirmed as coming to stores, with new additions like Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Olaf and Mulan. Hulkbuster Iron Man and Ultron will also be released.

Perhaps one of the coolest things for people to get is the chance to play as any Star Wars character in any playset, by collecting their cross over coins, you can take Obi-Wan Kenobi into Rise Against the Empire, or take Luke Skywalker back to Twilight of the Republic.

But the best news is that new sets of Power Discs will be available in labeled franchise-specific packs of four for Disney Infinity 3.0 to power-up character abilities, customise a Toy Box, or unlock new gadgets, costumes and team attacks.

Look for the game when it releases this Winter on Wii U, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, iOS and Android.
