Final Fantasy XIV - Heavensward Expansion Announced

Over the weekend at Jump Fiesta, Final Fantasy XIV Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida took to the stage and shared some new details for the games first expansion, Heavensward.

The expansion will bring forth a host of new content, including a new playable race the Au Ra, two new job types, the Astrologian and the Machinist. Astrologians channel celestial magicks through their star globe in order to heal others and make use of a divining deck to support their fellow party members, while Machinists wield firearms to deal damage from afar and employ turret-like weaponry on the battlefield to create further mayhem.

A new raid challange was announced, the mechanical fortress Alexander and the biggest news that Nobuo Uematsu would be returning to compose the Heavensward main theme.

Details were also given for the collectors edition, which will come packed with the expansion, a dragon figure, an art book and exclusive in game digital content. Check out the new screens as well as character art below.
