Nostalgia Stars Launch the Supanova Expo April Tour, 2014!

Supanova - Australia’s own home-grown fan convention - went from strength to strength in 2013. This years’ attendance over the six expos (Gold Coast, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane) hit 160,800 -- building significantly on last year’s record attendance of 121,800. Throughout the year, Supanova brought over 150 celebrity guests to Australia to interact with their fans. The expo’s organisers are now planning for another great year in 2014, beginning with the Gold Coast and Melbourne expos in April.

Team Supanova can now reveal the first celebrity Supa-Stars who’ll visit Australia for April’s expos, with many more to be announced in the coming months. The focus begins on classic fan-favourites who tug the nostalgic heartstrings of film and TV buffs.

• Peter Mayhew: The gentle giant behind Star Wars’ ever-popular Wookiee, Chewbacca

• Verne Troyer: Mini-Me - the only man ‘man enough’ to “complete” Dr Evil, Austin Powers’ nemesis

• Lindsay Wagner: The original Bionic Woman, Jaime Sommers, heroine of the classic ‘70s TV series

• Gary Lockwood: Best known as Dr. Frank Poole in Kubrick’s masterpiece, 2001: A Space Odyssey

• Keir Dullea: Dave Bowman in 2001: A Space Odyssey. When H.A.L. said, “I’m sorry, Dave, I can’t do that”, this is who he was talking to!

• Neil Kaplan: Affable star of dozens of video games, animés and cartoons, including StarCraft II (Tychus) and Transformers (Optimus Prime).

SUPANOVA BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The Supanova Expo was established in 2002 in Sydney as a completely home-grown Australian production showcasing sci-fi, fantasy, comic books, animé, manga, games and much more. Run by a diverse and passionate team of independent professionals with backgrounds in private industry and the creative sector, Supanova has expanded to six cities (the Gold Coast, Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane). Supanova is now Australia’s premier event of its kind, with over 160,000 fans attending in 2013.

International pop-culture celebrities come to Supanova to meet fans, give behind-the-scenes talks, pose for portraits and sign autographs at the family-friendly expos.
