Sony - First in Australia with Google TV
Sony today announced it will be the first manufacturer to bring the Google TV platform to Australia. Where TV meets the web, Sony’s Internet Player with Google TV1 will provide Australians with an enhanced entertainment experience through a number of exciting features – such as apps and games from Google Play, a full web browser utilising Google Chrome and the best YouTube on TV experience. In addition, the Player’s unique “smart” remote – including track pad and full QWERTY keyboard – ensures simple navigation through the features.
Initially, Sony’s Internet Player with Google TV will be available exclusively with the purchase of selected models from the company’s BRAVIA TV range2. The limited-time offer will begin in retail stores around Australia and online at www.sony.com.au from 28 June 2012.
“There’s smart, and then there’s smartest – and that’s what we think Google TV offers consumers who want the ultimate connected, big screen experience at home,” said Carl Rose, Managing Director, Sony Australia and New Zealand. “With the combination of the superb picture quality of our BRAVIA TV range and our Internet Player with Google TV, we will give digital entertainment lovers a new understanding of what’s possible in today’s living room – and tomorrow’s. Combining Sony’s strength in TV and Google’s power in web, we are truly proud to be the first Google TV partner in Australia.”
