Xbox 360 will no longer sell games on the console starting July 2024

I know that headline might seem a bit confusing, but let me clarify things. On July 29th, 2024 the Xbox 360 Marketplace, both on the actual Xbox 360 consoles and the old marketplace.xbox.com page, will no longer allow gamers to buy content there.

If you are someone who has a Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S and you want to buy Xbox 360 games after July 29th, 2024 that will still be possible, it is only the buying on an actual Xbox 360 console that is stopping.

Purchases can be made today and all the way through until the date, be it games, dlc or other entertainment items, and once the date has passed, all the content you own can still be enjoyed on the console.

Now something that might be of concern is the multiplayer aspect of the Xbox 360, but you needn’t be worried as that is not going anywhere. Here is everything you need in list form.

What is going away on July 29 2024

  • Ability to buy games, dlc and other entertainment options on Xbox 360 consoles and marketplace.xbox.com

What is remaining after July 29 2024

  • The ability to play all owned content on Xbox 360 consoles, along with Xbox One consoles and Xbox Series X|S via backwards compatibility.

  • The ability to purchase Xbox 360 content on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles

  • Cloud saves of Xbox 360 titles will still work, allowing users to take their progress to other Xbox consoles.

If you have more questions, there is a fair chance you can find the answer on the official Xbox support site.
