What Are Warner Bros. Games Working On… A Look At Their Studios
WB Games are not the biggest publisher/maker of games in our round up, but they do have some of the biggest names in the world under them, with DC leading the way.
They had a fairly good 2023, with both Mortal Kombat 1 and Hogwarts Legacy leading the charge, then a Switch double punch at the end with Hogwarts Legacy again and the Batman Arkham Trilogy.

AVALANCHE SOFTWARE
Last Game Released: Hogwarts Legacy | Series: Disney Infinity series
After years of development, Avalanche Software finally got Hogwarts Legacy out the door last year, for more platforms than was initially announced. The game was so popular with fans of the franchise, it sold some 22m copies across 2023, even with plenty of folks from various walks of life calling out the author of the books that inspired.
As for what is next for the game and company, it is expected that the PlayStation exclusive mission will release once that years exclusivity is up, but that has not been confirmed. The studio is also hiring for a number of roles, with one looking for animator for a AAA role and another seeking a Producer with MMO and Open-world RPG experience, so who knows what that means. Either way a new game is unlikely at this time, but given the success of Hogwarts Legacy, DLC is honestly a given.
MONOLITH PRODUCTIONS
Last Game Released: Middle-earth: Shadow of War | Series: Middle-earth series, F.E.A.R. series
It is now over 2 years since Monolith revealed that they were working on Wonder Woman and 12 months since we last spoke of it. In that time there hasn’t been any news on the game, ensuring that the developers are likely just working on it.
The only reason it might be delayed beyond whatever expectations players might have is that the studio is still looking for some roles, like a Lead Gameplay Engineer and Character Artists. With this year now reaching 7 years since their last release and there being no date for their next, the studio might need to pull their finger out.
NETHERREALM STUDIOS
Last Game Released: Mortal Kombat 1 | Series: Mortal Kombat series, Injustice series
With Mortal Kombat 1 out the door, the studios focus is going to be on DLC for the game, with characters like Homelander and Peacemaker still waiting to be released. Of course, given the amount of DLC that the last game got, its highly likely that we will see a lot more come to this game as well, we just have to be paitent.
ROCKSTEADY STUDIOS
Last Game Released: Batman: Arkham VR | Series: Batman Arkham series
In just a few weeks, Rocksteady will finally release their latest game, their first in 8 years and their first non-VR in 9. With the launch about to happen, and DLC plans locked in place, we should hear from the studio fairly frequently across the year.

Last Game Released: LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga | Series: LEGO Games…
It has been a few years since the main arm of the TT Games studios released a game, with The Skywalker Saga releasing in 2022. Since then the studio has been very quiet, likely due to the sheer amount of reporting that released afterwards about the conditions in the studio and what the employees went through in getting the last game finished.
So what does 2024 hold for the studio, honestly, there is no telling what they are doing. Reports surfaced in early 2023 that a series of planned titles, including a Lego Guardians of the Galaxy title and Project Marley all given the cut. The last one was said to have been a Diablo-style game that would bring Lego version of Disney IP into a shared world, think Disney Infinity meets Lego Dimensions, just without the toys.
The latest reports that are floating about are talking all about the studios potential Lego Harry Potter game, but those are just rumours at this point. Given the studio is owned by WB, who owns DC and has a vested interest in Harry Potter, its likely something from their house of IPs will come out next, just when is the question. We know the studio is hiring and has phrases like “an exciting new LEGO game based on a major IP“ so take from that what you will.
TT GAMES FUSION
Last Game Released: LEGO The Incredibles | Series: LEGO Games…
The second studio for TT Games, for the longest time they handled the handheld and mobile versions of the main games, but they were given the green light to make a few console games, which gave us LEGO The Incredibles. Since then the studio was pulled into working on The Skywalker Saga and with that done, there is no word on what is next for them.
All the studios below have the full name of WB Games and then the location in the name, ie WB Games Boston. To keep it simple, we are just using the studio location.
MONTRÉAL
Last Game Released: Gotham Knights | Series: Batman: Arkham Origins
After releasing Gotham Knights in 2022, which failed to ignite the fans, the studio has been quiet on whatever is next. We do know that the studio is assisting with the Wonder Woman game, with them still looking for roles to fill. Beyond that role, we don’t have any indication that they have anything more planned, but given the amount of staff they have in house, it would surprise if they are not running in two teams, one for Wonder Woman and one for something else entirely. Sadly there is no word on anything, so for now we have to wait.
BOSTON
Last Game Released: Game of Thrones: Conquest | Series: Batman: Arkham Underworld, The Lord of the Rings Online
The studio released Game of Thrones: Conquest back in 2017 and seemingly happy to support that for a while to come. However, they have got a new job listing for a Production Manager that hints that maybe a new mobile game is in the works, which makes sense given the studio has been assigned to craft mobile games. With them being owned by Warner Bros, it could come from any number of IP across the WB Family, which includes DC and HBO, maybe a game based around HBO’s Barry is on the way?
NEW YORK
Not a main developer, the studio tends to focus more on tools and analytics of games, in order to help other studios get things done on time. As such, there is no game expected from them this year, or likely any year.
SAN DIEGO
Last Game Released: None | Series: None
Last year we said that the studio was now 4 years old and had nothing to show for it and in the 12 months since, nothing has changed. They are still advertising their debut game as “a cross-platform next generation free-to-play game” and there is still no word on what it might be.
The only change from our reporting last year is that there doesn’t appear to be any open roles, which hopefully means progress, but until the studio reveals their game, we are just in the dark.
SAN FRANCISCO
Last Game Released: Harry Potter: Wizards Unite | Series: Fantastic Beasts: Cases From the Wizarding World
It has now been a few years since the closure of Harry Potter: Wizards Unite and since then the studio has said nothing. We know they are hiring for a Production Manager to work on a new Free-to-Play title, but that is it. Like the San Diego and Boston locations, they are mobile focused, so they won’t reveal anything until its good and ready and by this point they should be.
