What Are Embracer Working On… A Look At Their Studios
2024 was a massive year for Embracer, but not in a good way. The group shut down more studios, sold a bunch more and announced that they were splitting up, well splitting into more divisions that is.
Of course, we have to address the studio situation, because after closing down four studios in 2023, they closed four more in 2024 and sold off a bunch more. Outside of studio closures, the group let go of another ~500 staff across the year, with their financial results in November 2024 show that the headcount for Embracer globally is now just over 10,000. If that seems like a lot, before their layoffs and closures, the count was more than 15,000. The developer specific count is even worse, in November 2022 that count was reported at ~11,000 but now just cracks over 6,000, so it has been a big drop.
Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors, the man responsible for all this, has stated that the restructuring was done once Gearbox was sold, but that was a lie. Gearbox was sold in March 2024, then in April they sold Shiver to Nintendo, in June they closed Pieces Interactive and in November they divested Easybrain. So coming out and saying your restructuring work is done, but then selling or closing a heap more studios means either it was not done, or you don’t count those as part of the work, either way it ain’t a good look.
These are the changes that took place in 2024:
Studios sold off:
Gearbox - Sold to Take-Two Interactive
Includes Gearbox Montreal, Gearbox Studio Quebec
Saber Interactive - Sold to Beacon Interactive
Includes Saber Interactive Armenia, Saber Interactive Minks, Saber Interactive Porto, Saber Interactive Russia, Saber Interactive Spain, Saber Interactive Sweden, 3D Realms, Fractured Byte, Mad Head Games, New World Interactive, Nimble Giant Entertainment, Sandbox Strategies and Slipgate Ironworks
Shiver Entertainment - Sold to Nintendo
Goose Byte Games - Reformed as indie studio
Rainbow Studios - Sold off to themselves
Silent Games - Reformed as indie studio
C77 Entertainment - Reformed as indie studio
Studios closed:
Eidos-Sherbrooke
Pieces Interactive
Piranha Bytes
Pow Wow Entertainment
If you thought that was all the changes the group had instore, they announced in April 2024 that they were going to split the group into three, because who knows why. What makes it worse is that Lars Wingefors will still remain the CEO of all the groups, so it is less of an improvement and more of a lateral move to nowhere.
The split will take Asmodee out into its own group, with it will be all the tabletop aspects. Coffee Stain & Friends will be where the indie titles, AA games and mobile games will live. The last group is Middle-Earth Enterprises & Friends and that will host the AAA developers and franchises like Lord of the Rings and Tomb Raider. As those changes have not happened, the video game ones at least, we are just going to group them as best we can.
Here are the games that were released by the Embracer Group in 2024. The titles that have been bolded are original releases:
Graven*

AMPLIFIER GAME INVEST
A CREATIVE ENDEAVOR
Last Game Released: Hooked Inc: Fishing Games | Series: Gladiator: Hero of the Arena, What if..
In the past 12 months, the only update that I have found to this developer is that on April 1st, they released an update to Hooked Inc and that is it. Just like last year, there are no jobs, no new games and no sign that the studio has nothing in the works. Will we hear from them this year, who knows.
DESTINYBIT
Last Game Released: Dice Legacy | Series: Empires Apart
DestinyBit brought Dice Legacy to players in 2021 and unlike some studios, they have announced their new game. Nitro Gen Omega is currently dated for release in 2025 and is described as n ‘Spaghetti Anime Sandbox Tactical RPG’, so take from that what you will. One of the games big draws is that characters are procedurally created, so you and your friends won’t have the exact same experience.
An alpha took place last year, so they are on track, but they have not said anything since the end of November 2024. We will just need to wait on a release date for this game.
FRAME BREAK
Last Game Released: Lightyear Frontier | Series: None
Just a few months after we published last years entry, Lightyear Frontier released into early access on PC and Xbox Series X|S, giving players a chance to farm on an alien world.
With the game being updated all the time, the odds are good that we will see this studios name across 2025, just how often is going to be the question.
GREEN TILE DIGITAL
Last Game Released: Strobophagia | Rave Horror | Series: None
After a few years of silence, Green Tile Digital broke that in December 2024, finally revealing their new game, Locomoto. Locomoto is a cosy, life-sim adventure train game where you are the conductor. The game will let you customise, manage and expand your train as well as tend to your colourful, furry passengers.
There is no release date for this one, so it could be this year or not. However, I would imagine that between now and whenever there release date is known, we are likely to see some cute little vignettes from the game.
INFINITE MANA GAMES
Last Game Released: None | Series: None
After a long period of teasing, we finally have another tease. Infinite Mana Games revealed that their new game is being made under the working title Expeditions. The game is in development for Xbox and PC and will have a few familiar elements from 3D isometric action RPGs, but there will be some twists to it still.
In April last year the CEO of the company revealed a screen shot of the game, click here to see it, but since then its been radio silent again. Given that the game is seemingly making good progress, odds are we might get the official name this year, but I doubt we will see a release until 2026 at the earliest.
INVISIBLE WALLS
Last Game Released: First Class Trouble | Series: Aporia: Beyond The Valley
After launching First Class Trouble, the studio kept it going with years of content updates, the problem is that as far as I can tell, the last update was released in 2023 and nothing has happened since then. The studio has not shared anything to the games social channels, or their own since mid 2023. But don’t despair as the studio has just moved onto their next game, Neighbors: Suburban Warfare.
The game was only announced a few months ago and since then they have had some playtests for it, with players from around the world. If the game looks familiar, it was teased a few years back as Just Perfect, but it was put on hold to get First Class Trouble the attention it needed. Given that the game has only just came back, I would imagine we will see more play tests throughout 2025, with a possible early access release towards the end of the year, but that would be all.
MISC GAMES
Last Game Released: Ships At Sea | Series: Fishing: Barents Sea, Fishing: North Atlantic
Last year we said that Ships At Sea would set sail into early access in the early part of the year and it did. The year saw the game get a few small updates and a few big ones, as part of the games early access roadmap and that will continue throughout 2025. Right now the game appears to be aiming for its full release on PC and consoles in 2026, but given that is 12 months away, might pay to anchor yourself to shore for this one.
PALINDROME INTERACTIVE
Last Game Released: Immortal Realms: Vampire Wars | Series: None
Last year I said that we would not hear anything about the game set within the world of Legend of the Five Rings in 2024, but with less then 3 weeks until the end of the year, they had to make a liar out of me. Now revealed as Shadowveil: Legend of the Five Rings, this PC only tactical strategy game is set to release in Q1 2025, but there is nothing firmer than that at this time.
RARE EARTH GAMES
Last Game Released: None | Series: None
For the second year in a row I can safely say that I have no idea what this studio is doing. Their official LinkedIn page has nothing, nor any of the staff profiles and their only valid social account still has no posts. They claim to have more socials, but they don’t actually exist.
I said that 2024 was the year that this studio needed to reveal their mystery co-op game, but for now I will say that 2025 is the year that this studio needs to prove that it is not some sort of scam. Because 4 years without a single update, a single social post or anything that proves they are actually doing what they say, that seems suspicious.
Studio Hermitage
Studio Hermitage is making a tabletop role playing game, which should have them fall under the Asmodee banner, but for some reason they don’t. You can learn all about Our Brilliant Ruin here.
TARSIER STUDIOS
Last Game Released: Little Nightmares II | Series: Little Nightmares series, The Stretchers
When Tarsier Studios, the creators of the Little Nightmares series announced that they were doing something new, many hoped for another spooky game, what they got was a little more horror. Reanimal was announced in August 2024 and looks like Little Nightmares at first, but then the real scares come out.
Since that reveal, the game did show up at Tokyo Game Show 2024, but has been quiet since. The studio is not looking for any major jobs, so there is nothing going on that we can see, which likely means they are just hard at work. The studio never set a release date for Reanimal, so we could be waiting for a while on this one.
ZAPPER GAMES
Last Game Released: None | Series: None
October 2021 was when this studio was formed and since then, nothing. There has been nothing socially, nothing on their website, not even some random comment at a trade show, just silence. The studio did state their debut game would be an open world adventure game, but that is a broad base and without anything else to go on, there is no telling where things stand.
We have searched through their very small number of employees and found they are still working on it, but we just have no idea of what it is. Will they say something this year, honestly I doubt it, given their lack of clear communication since their founding, I doubt that they are going to say anything until they are 100% ready and who knows when that might be.
CDE ENTERTAINMENT
CRYSTAL DYNAMICS
Locations: Redwood City, USA | Seattle, USA | Austin, USA
Last Game Released: Marvel's Avengers | Series: Tomb Raider series, Gex series, Legacy of Kain series
It has been a few years since Crystal Dynamics released a game, and we know why that is. The studio has been tapped to help bring Perfect Dark to market, as they are co-devs with The Initiative. You can read more about that here. They have not been only focused on that though, as 2024 saw them work with Aspyr to make updated assets for both the Tomb Raider I-III Remastered release and the Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered release.
Will we hear about the studios work this year, yes. What will it be for though, that is the question. Perfect Dark has not been given a release year, at the time of writing but the Xbox Developer Direct could include the game, if they want to get it out this year. But I would expect a trailer at the June showcase at least. As for the other game, the new Tomb Raider was announced as happening back in 2022 and would unify the various timelines that the series has created over the years. There has been quite literally nothing public on the game since that news happened, so depending on how much of the studios 3 sites are on Perfect Dark, we could see something new this year, though they have some core jobs still open so who knows. There is also a chance that the rumoured Tomb Raider Legend trilogy remaster is a real thing and the studio might be working on bringing those out, with likely another development partner. Given how many things they have going on right now, there is a good chance we will see their name in 2025.
EIDOS-MONTRÉAL
Last Game Released: Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy | Series: Deus Ex series, Thief
2024 was an odd year for the Eidos group, well more specifically June 2024 was the odd time. In 2021 Eidos announced big plans for their studio in Sherbrooke, Canada with those being to have the studio be fully staffed in 5 years. Barely 3 years later that location was closed down as part of the cost cutting measures that Embracer put forth. That same month, the Montreal location confirmed that they were doing co-dev work on Fable, alongside Playground Games.
With Fable given a 2025 release date, there is a good chance we will see the name of this studio throughout the year. Once the actual date is given, we will see more of them. Sadly though, the reports from 2024 was that the studio was also working on a new Deus Ex title, which was cancelled, so there is unlikely to be anything from them for a while longer, once Fable is out the door.
Plaion
Deep Silver
DAMBUSTER STUDIOS
Last Game Released: Dead Island 2 | Series: Homefront: The Revolution
2023 saw Dambuster Studios finally release Dead Island 2 and they kept the zombie slaying fun going into 2024 with the release of the Sola expansion for the game. That was not the end of support for the game then as a new update released in October 2024 as well, then again in December 2024, so they had a good release cadence going.
As for 2025, that is a little less clear. The studio has a few open roles right now around character and environment design, with one specifically calling out for work in Unreal Engine 5. Now given that the bulk of work is done and dusted on Dead Island 2, it makes total sense that the studio has moved onto the next big thing. But given that there has been no public announcement of whatever that next big thing is, it is unlikely that we will see it this year. The studio took 7 years between the release of their last two projects, so I can’t imagine they have a third ready to go in 2025.
FISHLABS
Last Game Released: Chorus | Series: Galaxy on Fire series
Since the release of Chorus in 2021, Fishlabs has not been sitting by waiting for things to do. In 2023 they helped bring Valheim to consoles, along with a host of other updates for the game and then in 2024 they opened the barn doors, in order to bring players the remaster of Goat Simulator and ported Goat Simulator 3 to consoles. They also kept the dead from living with the Neighborhood Watch DLC for Dead Island 2, so they have been busy.
The studio is cooking up something new, which as you might expect is using Unreal Engine 5, though one job listing does specify multiple new projects. Given the work that they did in 2024, I would not imagine that we are are going to hear what their projects are in 2025.
DIGIXART
Last Game Released: Road 96: Mile 0 | Series: Road 96 series
After having back to back releases within the world of Road 96, DigixArt revealed their next game in June 2024. Since that reveal, the studio has been very quiet on whatever is next for the game. It is currently without a release window, but as the team have released a game on average every 2 years, the odds are we might see the game released this year. If we don’t get the game released in 2025, then we will get a new trailer at some point.
FLYING WILD HOG
Locations: Warsaw, Poland | Cracow, Poland | Rzeszow, Poland
Last Game Released: Evil West | Series: Shadow Warrior series, Hard Reset
After having a loaded 2022 with 4 games releasing, though one was a live service game that has since ended, Flying Wild Hog have been quite for a number of years now. in 2024 the studio celebrated its 15th anniversary and part of their message around it, confirmed that new games are in the works.
The open roles that the team has range from combat designer to gameplay programmer. While many of them don’t list anything specific, they do have some with some insights. One job specifies working with Unreal Engine 5, another needs experience with Unreal Engine 4 and finally there is one that lists a third-person action project. Given that two generations of engines are being used, there is clearly more than one game in the works, we just have no idea what any of them are, though given how well Evil West did, it would not shock me to see a sequel for that in the works.
MILESTONE SRL
Last Game Released: Monster Jam Showdown | Series: MotoGP series, Ride series, Hot Wheels Unleashed series
2024 saw Milestone release MotoGP 24, which followed on from the 2023 release of MotoGP 23 and that followed the 2022 release, ok you get the idea. The studio has a few core games that they like to create, MotoGP is one, the Monster Energy Supercross games is another and keeping with the bike theme, they also have Ride. The studio has spent time making 4 wheel racers as well, with the Hot Wheels Unleashed series being one and most recently Monster Jam Showdown.
During the 2024 Game Awards, we learnt that the studio was creating a new entry in the Screamer racing series, the trailer for that is below. Screamer was one of the games created by the studio, before they got their current name, so its a deep cut. The game itself is not out until sometime in 2026 though, so what about 2025? Well Monster Energy Supercross: The Official Videogame 25 has been announced, but there is no date for that, though they normally arrive early in the year. MotoGP 25 is also highly likely, with those usually coming out in May. Given they have around 300 staff working there, there is no doubt we will see their name in 2025.
Voxler
Last Game Released: Let's Sing 2025 | Series: Let’s Sing series
Like clockwork, Voxler released another Let’s Sing in 2024, just like they have done every year since 2012. They have mixed things up by occasionally throwing in some band specific releases like Let’s Sing Queen and Let’s Sing ABBA, but usually its the main series.
Given their consistency with the series, odds are good that Let’s Sing 2026 will release later in the year.
WARHORSE STUDIOS
Last Game Released: Kingdom Come: Deliverance | Series: None
Warhorse Studios is set to release their new game in just a few weeks, with Kingdom Come: Deliverance II dated for release on February 4. Given the date is very close, we can expect to see a big social push by the developers in the lead up to release and beyond.
The game has an expansion pass up for sale, alongside its Gold Edition and as part of that pass, three expansions are included. We don’t know the details for the content, so that mystery will need to remain for now, but the game is so close you can smell it, thankfully that is not a historically accurate smell.
& Friends
34BIGTHINGS
Last Game Released: Redout 2 | Series: Redout series
It has been a few years since the release of Redout 2 and yeah, that is really it. The official website for 34Big Things has not been updated since 2019, their official socials have basically been dead for the past 2 years or so, with only sporadic posting. So what is the studio up to?
Well we know from the selling of Sabre Interactive, which is where this group was part of, that the studio is working on a new AA title, based on a known IP. The game itself is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, but I could not tell you what it is genre wise. With it now being 2.5 years since their last game, I would like to think we are going to hear about their next game this year, but who knows.
4A GAMES
Locations: Sliema, Malta | Kyiv, Ukraine
Last Game Released: Metro Exodus | Series: Metro series
It has been 6 years now since Metro Exodus released and while the game got two major expansions, the studio has been fairly quiet since then. We know from the selling of Sabre that a new AAA game is in development at 4A Games, but we just don’t know what it is.
The job listings that the studio has open range from general to quite specific. What is interesting is a good portion of them have the term new ip attached to the end. Looking through some of them, some list requirements like procedural open world and highly realistic environments. The question I have is around the ones that don’t have new ip in their name, as they could be for something a little more familiar, either way I hope we learn about whatever is next soon.
Arc Games
Last Game Released: None | Series: None
A publisher more than anything, Arc Games is a name you won’t know as they have only had it for 8 months, at the time of publishing. When they were founded, they were Perfect World Entertainment and then they became Gearbox Publishing San Francisco, but with the sale of Gearbox they needed a new name, thus Arc Games.
They will be on screens in just a few weeks when Hyper Light Breaker launches into early access on PC, they are also still supporting games like Star Trek Online and Remnant 2. The studio is helping a new Swedish developer with Fellowship, the first-ever multiplayer online dungeon adventure. The game has a 2025 release window, but nothing narrower, but with all they have going on, we will see their name a lot in 2025.
Aspyr
ASPYR MEDIA
Last Game Released: Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered | Series: Plenty of ports
2024 was an interesting year for Aspyr, as they had a big number of releases hit all the platforms. What makes it interesting is that they had no games released in 2023, their first time ever since they started publishing games in 1997. While many of the games were received well, there was one cough Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection cough that did not launch in the best state. It is such a blemish on their record, their official website does not show it anywhere, even if you search for it. The game got a few months of updates, but after the third in June 2024, there has been nothing since.
It seems though that the group don’t care about that as they have moved on, Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles and Tomb Raider IV–VI Remastered are both out within the next 4 weeks. Beyond those two releases, there is honestly no telling what games might be next from this porting powerhouse, if only because they sometimes announce them and release them just weeks later. Given their love of Star Wars, it would be a delight to see Lethal Alliance or Shadows of the Empire get the treatment, but time will tell.
BEAMDOG
Last Game Released: Mythforce | Series: Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition, Axis & Allies 1942 Online
2023 saw Beamdog release Mythforce and 2024 saw them keep the game updated with new content and fixes. That actually sums up most of the efforts from this studio in 2024, as Axis & Allies, Neverwinter Nights and the rest of their games all got either content updates or patches released and even now, some games have been given updates already in 2025.
Beyond them keeping their games updated in 2025, the studio is cooking up something new as they are looking to fill a few roles. What the game is that they are working on is unknown, but one of the listings does want someone with open world experience and another requests Unreal Engine 5 experience. Will we learn what the studio has been up to in 2025? Unlikely, for their original work they tend to take a few years between releases and given what they are looking for, I would imagine 2026 is when we hear what is next from this group.
DEMIURGE STUDIOS
Last Game Released: Rocket League: Sideswipe | Series: Many
When Demiurge Studios were owned by Sega, they made a lot of mobile games featuring their IP, once they got snapped up by Embracer, they became a sort of studio for hire. They were the lead studio on the mobile version of Rocket League, they also have assisted with games like Marvel Snap and Hearthstone.
We have known that the studio has a game coming out in 2025 for a while now, with 2XKO getting alpha play tests in 2024. You can see some of what they are up to in the trailer for Jinx below, but basically its a fighting game featuring characters from League of Legends. The studio is also cooking up something new, the open jobs that they are looking to fill are broad, but one does list PvP Shooter experience and another asks for experience in shipping a AAA multiplayer title. With 2XKO being the one we know about and with plans for another alpha test sometime this Autumn, we will hear from them soon.
SNAPSHOT GAMES
Last Game Released: Phoenix Point | Series: Phoenix Point, Chaos Reborn
2019 saw this studio release Phoenix Point and over the next few years, they would release updates and expansions for the game, but that stopped in 2022. In fact the last time the games official socials talked about it, was sharing that a fan made mod was available. The studio socials have been dead for even longer, but we know they have something new in the works.
Given the silence and the lack of open roles, they are clearly just working away on whatever is next, we just have no idea what it might be. With the studios foundation in strategy games, there is a good chance it will be something like that, but they could buck that trend, we just don’t know.
TRIPWIRE INTERACTIVE
Last Game Released: Maneater | Series: Killing Floor series, Red Orchestra series
In 2024, Tripwire Interactive kept a few of their games updated, they also published Rogue Waters, a tactical pirate game, but the focus was on what was next. That won’t be a long wait as the studio is publishing The Stone of Madness, which is set to release on January 28, just a few weeks from now.
The wait for the studios own original title is not a long one either, as Killing Floor III will release this March. The odd thing is that even though March is just weeks away, there is no date for the game yet. Either way, once it does release it will with full crossplay, a first for the series.
TUXEDO LABS
Last Game Released: Teardown | Series: None
The Teardown title has been out for a while now, but the studio is not slowing down on things for the game. After hitting consoles in 2023, the game keeps on growing with a big 1.6 update released in October 2024. The studio has also been supporting mods for the game, promoting many of them on the games social channels.
There is another expansion coming, it was confirmed just before the holidays and the name is The Greenwash Gambit. The only thing shared with it was a picture of planets, so who knows if its intergalactic teardown or just one super clear night sky. Either way, they are promising more details soon, so I expect we will hear this groups name across 2025.
ZEN STUDIOS
Last Game Released: Zen Pinball World | Series: Pinball series
Pinball M released at the end of 2023 and while it launched with a number of tables, there were only a few added across 2024. But don’t let that fool you, the studio also released Pinball FX again in 2023 and released a lot more content for that across its year and 2024, but wait, there’s more. The studio also released a mobile pinball game called Zen Pinball World at the end of 2024.
So what is on the table for 2025? Honestly more pinball, it is what the studio does and while they do try new things occasionally, there is nothing indicating that they have other projects in the works.
THQ Nordic
ALKIMIA INTERACTIVE
Last Game Released: Gothic II Complete Classic | Series: Gothic series
This studio has been working on the remake of Gothic for years now, but it seems that 2025 is the year they plan to release it. The last time we saw it was during the THQ Nordic Showcase, the trailer for it is below, but there is no word on when it might release this year from that.
The studio shared a social post just as the New Year began that confirmed they are aiming for the 2025 release, but that was all they said on it, so for now we wait.
APPEAL STUDIOS
Last Game Released: Outcast: A New Beginning | Series: Outcast series
2024 saw Appeal Studios release Outcast: A New Beginning, with the studio releasing a number of patches to address player feedback as the year went on. As of now there is no word on what the studio might be moving onto next, there are no open jobs or hints elsewhere of what is next, but if I had to put money on things, I would imagine that the PC only Outcast: A New Beginning would get a port to consoles in 2025.
ASHBORNE GAMES
Last Game Released: Last Train Home | Series: Comanche Remake
Ashborne Games released Last Train Home in 2023, with DLC released in 2024 and people really like the game. The studio has moved on to another new project, but as that only went into production in June 2024, there is no chance we hear from this studio for a while yet.
BLACK FOREST GAMES
Last Game Released: Destroy All Humans! 2: Reprobed | Series: Giana Sisters series, Destroy All Humans (remakes)
2023 saw Black Forest Games released Destroy All Humans! 2: Reprobed, and we learnt that their next game was going to be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin. It was 18 months ago that we learnt the studio was doing that and there has not been any updates to it since, however there is likely two reasons for that.
First is that the studio was tapped to help bring Disney Epic Mickey to market, but also at the start of 2024, roughly half of the studio was let go. Given the support role and lack of staff, it is unlikely we are going to hear from them in 2025.
BUGBEAR ENTERTAINMENT
Last Game Released: Wreckfest | Series: FlatOut series
In 2018, Wreckfest released and since then the game has hit just about every platform you can imagine, which is why it was so good to hear that a sequel was coming. The game was revealed in August 2024, but with the studio having around 20 open roles to fill, there is little chance of it releasing in 2025. For now players will just have do a few more circuits in the first game.
EXPERIMENT 101
Last Game Released: Biomutant | Series: None
2024 saw Biomutant arrive on Switch, which marks the final platform for the game to arrive onto, so clearly that means the studio has to do something new. Which is correct, the studio has started production on their next game and all I can find out about it, is that it is being made in Unreal Engine 5. Biomutant was made in Unreal Engine 4, so unless they have decided to just port that to a new engine, it will be something new.
With the studio being on the smaller side, I would not expect that we hear from them for a little while longer.
GRIMLORE GAMES
Last Game Released: SpellForce 3: Fallen God | Series: Spellforce series
It has been 18 months since it was revealed that Grimlore Games was making Titan Fall II. The studio has been releasing updates via the games Steam page, you can read them here, but there is still no date for its release. The studio has not published anything to their socials in years now, which doesn’t help and they have a number of open roles to fill, which could be another reason for the lack of a date.
The game was playable at Gamescom 2024, so the public have tested it out, but that does not mean a date is coming any time soon. For now, enjoy the gameplay from the demo build below, but just know this quest could take a while until we see it complete.
GUNFIRE GAMES
Last Game Released: Remnant II | Series: Darksiders series, Remnant series
2023 saw Gunfire Games release Remnant II and since then the studio has kept a decent release cadence of updates, both patch style and expansion. The last major expansion released for the game in September 2024, and you might think that they have nothing to do now. That would be wrong as just the month before in August 2024, it was revealed that a new Darksiders game was happening, but as that has just been announced, we are unlikely to hear about it for a while. The studio will likely keep updating Remnant II, as they have been, but there is no word on when those updates might come to an end.
Handy Games
HANDYGAMES
Last Game Released: Wreckfest Mobile | Series: Too many to mention
Just like last year, the HandyGames team is working on bringing Endling: Extinction is Forever to mobile, but there is no word on its status. Given the studio is more publisher than developer, we often see their name as they assist in bringing other games to players, but we won’t know what they are working on until the credits roll.
MASSIVE MINITEAM
Last Game Released: Oddsparks: An Automation Adventure | Series: Squishies, Spitlings
2024 saw this group release Oddsparks: An Automation Adventure and for the remainder of the year, they kept the updates coming for the game. The last big update just released a few weeks ago, but they will have more updates throughout 2025, so for now we just have to watch and wait.
KAIKO
Last Game Released: Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning | Series: Red Faction: Guerrilla - Re-Mars-tered, Darksiders: Warmastered Edition
Since the release of Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning on Switch, the studio has gone silent. We do know they are working on something new, but the only open roles that the studio has don’t indicate anything about what the new job is.
With their work on bringing a number of older games to modern devices, it is highly likely that the studio is working another remaster/port project, but there is just no way of knowing.
MIRAGE GAME STUDIOS
Last Game Released: Little Big Workshop | Series: None
After a lot of teasing, Space for Sale finally launched into early access in July 2024, with the game getting updates throughout the rest of the year. With the roadmap not being that large, we don’t know how long it will remain in early access, for now though you can follow along.
NINE ROCKS GAMES
Last Game Released: Way of the Hunter | Series: None
Since 2022, Nine Rocks Games have been releasing content for Way of the Hunter, which continued throughout 2024. The studio hosted a survey recently, seeking player feedback on content for 2025, so they have plans but they are just not locked in place. So we will hear from them across 2025, just no idea how often.
PURPLE LAMP STUDIOS
Last Game Released: Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed | Series: SpongeBob SquarePants ports
2024 saw Purple Lamp Studios bring Disney Epic Mickey Rebrushed to modern platforms. We also know that someone is working on another SpongeBob SquarePants game, which is due out in 2025, we just don’t know if it is these guys. The details for that are non-existent, as the reveal that the game was coming, happened at the end of a trailer for already released games in October 2024.
If the game is coming this year, I expect we will start to hear about it soon, but there is just no telling on when, until the game is properly revealed. It could of course be created by another studio entirely, which would leave these folks to create something else.
So there we go, Embracer done for another year. Does anything we have said sound good to you, or do you have your own theories going?
