Trackmania will speed onto consoles in 2023, keeping its free-to-play model

During Ubisoft Forward, developer Nadeo were on hand to reveal that Trackmania, the reboot of their popular racing series, is coming to Xbox and PlayStation in 2023, joining the PC release after 2 years.

With the release of new platforms, comes the confirmation that the game will get cross-play and cross-progression, meaning if you opt to move to one of the new platforms, you won’t lose any progress, nor will you lose the ability to race with friends.

In addition, you won’t lose any of the 280,000 player created tracks that the game has seen developed over the past two years, as they are fully supported as well.

While the game is free-to-play, it wouldn’t be classed as one unless if offered in-game upgrades and that is the case here as Trackmania on console will also give the option to upgrade to the two premium access plans already available on PC platforms. Please know that the game does not include microtransactions, think of it like the battle pass of Fortnite, you don’t need it, but you can get some extra perks if you do.

In addition to regular Esports events like the Cup Of The Day, these premium access tiers unlock more social and community-oriented features such as Trackmania clubs, allowing groups of players to create and share their own car customizations, organize private rooms and most importantly, the ability to build their own campaigns and competitions.

There is no date for the console release, outside of early 2023, so if you want to get racing now, you can get the game on PC, otherwise you could be in for a long wait.
