The Xbox Wireless Headset has been revealed, coming next month

In a move that is a little surprising, Xbox have announced their first official wireless headset, the Xbox Wireless Headset, I know the name is straight forward. The better news is that this will be here starting March 16 for $150

There is a massive post about the headset on the Xbox Wire, which you can read here, but the coolest part is below.

“We spent a lot of time in the audio testing chambers trying to characterize and understand how the headset reproduces audio in different room environments. It goes in your living room, game room, and dorm room and we want it to sound the best for all types of audio.” said Erik Garcia, Project Architect and Lead. “In the same way, the team studied gameplay to ensure great sounding chat with a sensitive mic to prevent background noise.”

Given how much Microsoft have done with PC speakers over the years, with their Surface line, this should be some quality audio.

The only concerning part is the battery life, this is taken from the Xbox Wire:

Finally, charging gets you back into the action in a flash: 30 minutes of charging provides about 4 hours of battery life, with only 3 hours of charging to reach up to 15 hours of battery life when the headset is not in use.

The idea of a 30 minute charge, giving you 4 hours of gaming is great, but the 3 hours of charging giving you 15 hours, when not using it, seems weird. Hopefully you are going to get a good amount of time for use, but that statement doesn’t provide me with a lot of confidence.

The headset should be available from most retailers that sell Xbox Series X|S consoles and accessories, or you can order them today direct from Microsoft.
