The Last of Us Part II Remastered has been announced
After the PlayStation Store leaked it, PlayStation have confirmed that The Last of Us Part II Remastered is coming and will hit PlayStation 5 on January 19th, 2024. Check out the new trailer for it below.
As a remaster, players can expect the same features as other PlayStation 5 games, so that means enhanced graphics, including native 4K output in Fidelity Mode, 1440p upscaled to 4K in Performance Mode, an Unlocked Framerate option for TVs that support VRR, increased texture resolution, increased Level-of-Detail distances, improved shadow quality, animation sampling rate, and more. The game will also make full use of the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller, if you like that stuff.
While remastered generally just means better visuals, but the game does include more than just better visuals and load times, naming a roguelike survival mode called No Return.
The mode includes a host of playable characters to choose from - some playable for the first time in The Last of Us franchise, who each come with their own traits to suit different playstyles. Players will chart their own course on each run, choosing between various stealth and combat encounters that will pit players against a range of enemies, with unique twists that can add new, unexpected factors to any given encounter.
More details on that mode can be found on the PlayStation Blog.
For anyone who owns the game on PlayStation 4, a special offer will be available where for $20 you can get a digital copy of the game. If you have the game digitally, you upgrade and then download it on your PlayStation 5 and go for it, if you have it on disc, you need the disc in the PlayStation 5 to work.
