The inaugural Acer Predator League Academy has crowned its first champions

SXSW Sydney 2024, had a lot going on across its multi-day run, but one things was new for the shot, the finals of the Acer Predator League Academy, the very first one ever.

The first year of the Acer Predator League Academy was a resounding success, with participation from 56 teams spanning 31 schools in Australia and New Zealand over two school terms. Each team, consisting of four students, engaged in weekly competitive matches against other schools, utilizing the widely-enjoyed game Fortnite as their battleground. The competition was structured around three specially designed maps that encouraged communication, strategic planning, and critical thinking, thereby evaluating the students' abilities and collaborative efforts within the virtual environment of Fortnite. Additionally, each team was supported by a teacher who acted as a coordinator, ensuring a structured and educational experience.

The grand final at SXSW on the weekend was a testament to the hard work and skills of the top two teams, with the winner’s trophy being presented by popular gaming personalities Lachlan and Loserfruit onsite on the day.

The winners of the competition were Border Christian College with Hoppers Crossing Secondary School coming in second.
